I've found it interesting to watch conservatives basically become the party opposed to the very idea of insurance. It's an interesting phenomenon.

We've been saying that for 4.5 years, now.  It seems to me that their opposition hasn't really hurt them all that much, though it's destroying America's economy, infrastructure, and education system.  I would have hoped the GOP would have folded by now, as crazy as they have been over the black guy getting into office.  But no.

Step 2: "The political system works!  The masses are going to vote out the Republicans!"

No shame at all.  You guys will post anything just to get a response.

Yep, because the GOP totally isn't currently projected to have a majority in the Senate in 2014* and they totally don't have the advantage of name brand candidates for 2016. Who do the Dems have to run for the next presidential election? Early polls have nearly every potential GOP candidate trouncing Biden, and they're going to find more skeletons in Hilary's closet than they did in Jeffrey Dahmer's, she'll be lucky to make it out of the primaries.

The difference is that in just about every case where Generic Republican was projected to beat Incumbent Democrat in 2012 and 2010 and then lost, you can point to one particular statement made or action taken by the candidate that turned the race around overnight. Harry Reid, Chris Coons, Joe Donnelly, etc. are not currently Senators because of some overwhelming backlash against the GOP. They are senators because the people they are running against were idiots, which was nothing more than dumb luck. Generic Republican still would have won those elections, they just lucked out that they weren't up against Generic Republican.

A) that comment has been grossly misinterpreted to mean the bill was passed with nobody knowing what was in it instead of meaning that the GOP had lied through their teeth about the bill's death panels and it being a complete takeover of the entire national health care system.
B) he bill and all of its permutations were available on THOMAS before people voted on them. I know because I read the bill before it was voted on.

The common clay that is against Obamacare is so uninformed about the law they hate so much that in places like Kentucky, their implementation is hoped to be better than Obamacare.

One can only hope these celebs could reach the young people that don't carry insurance right now.

I don't think its fair to say that people are uninformed about Obamacare in incidents like that. The reality is that Obamacare is decided to be a system of regulations and programs which (i) is not a single overarching program into which you enroll and therefore (ii) no consumer is ever going to encounter it in their daily lives under the name Obamacare. That's just how it was designed. If a program is designed to hide the fact that its part of Obamacare, you can't get annoyed at people for not knowing its part of Obamacare.

Oh, and my own personal example.

I was at the ER a two weeks ago.  I have insurance.  Crappy insurance, but insurance.

This past Friday I got a packet from the Oregon Health Plan asking me to apply as I or my kids might qualify for the state plan or their "Healthy Kids" option (I don't I make too much).

My neighbor saw the packet and said "Obama wants your money.  Obama wants your money".

The exchanges don't open until next month, nothing has been sent out that I am aware of.

The level of derp is amazing, it really is.
