I don't know if it's art, but I like it!

I have a sudden urge to watch Monty Python.

That's really cute.

I like the Space Beavers.

So she sees Mom as a head and a vagina?  Coincidentally, so does Dad.

That kid has an uncanny ability to accurately close her shapes.  Is hand-eye coordination hereditary?

I assume Mom probably went over things for the final product.  She said a lot of the originals were tracings.

So, that's what a acid trip looks like.

Look "artists", we've got enough art as it is. Save this pedestrian kitsch for your basement fridge.

Looks like someone collaborated with Franz Kafka.

Heh. Harsh. I'd be pissed off if I lived in Tampa to. Jags in one direction, Dolphins in the other, jumping off a pier, etc.

Sounds like BS.

Funny thing is my daughter is a pretty good artist, if we collaborated her part would look like the professional part and mine would look like the 6 year old part

The kid probably did it once, the rest are from the adult mimicking the style

Really, the kid is four and can't draw a hand with fingers, only sticks and only three of them.
Most kid pics I see around this age have HUGE hands with sausage fingers because hands are important to a four-year-old

No thread is complete without "It's a fake!" but anyway...not all kids draw alike. Some kids don't even draw fingers on. Some kids draw hands as big as the torso. Other kids pend half an hour on the nostrils and eyelashes.

Absolutely this!

I know this is a weak thread here on fark, but let me ask, what is the most artistic thing you've ever personally seen? I once saw an art student take over 1000 differently colored cards and sort them perfectly. It was the first time it had ever been done at our school and it was amazing. She passed around the stack. You could take any 5 in a row - to someone like me - looked exactly alike.

Pretty much any piece in the Dali museum.

Have you ever had, or ever helped raise a child?
If you have, and by this I mean more than just drop them off at day care, then I think your opinion would be different.

Wrong side of FL bro. Move it to Orlando or Daytona. And move the Jags and that baseball team while you're at it.

Yeah, I'm a cynic.
I live on this planet, how could it be otherwise?

This collaborative work is more interesting than the illustrations mom does on her own.

Did we all stop, collaborate and listen?

This is the point that everyone here decrying the collaboration is missing.

Also, most look like tattoos done by an inker that drops lsd/mdma 50:50, an hour after starting a 40's caricature.

I might have to commission a tattoo like that myself, and I hate tattoos... !

Cute,

But I could have done without the moms self important ranting.

I do, and agree with MrVeach.

Good to see a mother nurturing what could be some great artistic talent someday, but let's not call this "magic."

I like it. The drawings make for an interesting juxtaposition. Besides, mom is broadening her artistic experience by experimenting, and the kid is doing something fun that's improving hand-eye coordination and learning about art and drawing. Besides, it provides pleasurable time for them together. I would hope that if mom sells the pieces, she puts half the proceeds into an account for her daughter.

Win all around.

saw the Monet Notre Dame series when visiting a friend in D.C.  That's when I was glad I had learned to be a software developer as a hobby when in art school.  That said, the most amazing things I've ever seen in process were done by a few of my teachers.  One, who was working on her PhD was doing some absolutely amazing photorealistic oil on canvas.  So perfect that until I saw her painting them I thought it was a digital print process.  Another one of my teachers was an accomplished contemporary artist who was working on a piece in his office when I stopped by to talk to him.  His command of color was tremendous.

My four year old daughter is pretty good at it too.  It must be at least in part hereditary as there are a few other kids in her daycare group that are at her level, and some others who still only scribble incoherently.

I like it. It's fun and interesting.

I know, I should be a profession art critic with all these deep, critical thoughts.

So all you have to do is add coloring and shading to any kid's art and it's magic? Don't think so.

Totally reminded me of Axe Cop. Kudos.
