After all the earlier reports about players we were linked with, I'm trying as hard as I can not to be excited, for fear that my excitement is directly inverse to the odds of the outcome being successful.

Yes it is.

And to make matters worse (for our nerves), reports are coming that Di Maria talks are now advanced, as well as a loan deal for Demba Ba...

I have googled "arsenal rumors" way way too many times this summer.

/I hope the Ozil rumor is true.

Not holding my breath for Moyes to sign an attacking midfielder -- Utd have plenty of midfielders who can pass, not enough who can run with the ball. On a related note, Utd could really have used Zaha on Sunday.

United are overdue for a clearout, but unfortunately the switch from Fergie to Moyes meant it didn't happen. Too many almost-but-not-quite good enough players in the same positions, and players who looked promising on arrival but have regressed.

Cannot get over the Ozil news. Utterly tremendous. TalkSport is doing their best to sow confusion but even BBC Sport is reporting it's to the medical stage.

Heh, I have a default Google News search on my iPad for "arsenal -nuclear -weapons -miusoccer sortby:date"

If we actually land Ozil I think I may need a fainting couch

I'm still holding my breath until I see confirmation on the Arsenal website, but this would be a fantastic piece of business for Arsenal if it happens. After all of the previous deals that have fallen through, I'm cautiously optimistic (I mean, Sky Sports was reporting Higuain in London for a medical, too).

May Isco keep up his form for you guys. Aside from Bale, is Real bringing in anybody else this window?

Brought back Casemiro and bought Illarramendi and Isco. Madrid went for pure youth this window. Don't think anyone's over 25.

Still 12 hours left. I'm seeing a bit of whispering about a loan for Hulk, but the £10m fee associated with the rumor is pretty ridiculous.

Because it'd have made sense and been a timely acquisition?

As for the Ozil rumor, even Marca's reporting it as a done deal. Physical in Munich. 50 million euro fee.

German invasion time for Arsenal. Draxler has been linked as well. A Frenchman is trying to bring a bunch of German guys into as English a team as there ever was. Churchill is spinning in his grave. I'd love to see it continue with Klopp agreeing to replace Wenger after this year and bringing Lewandowski with him. Yes I know Lewandowski is Polish. I would also love to see Benedict Howedes sign as well. He also happens to be a German CB.

Bilbao making like bandits on that one. I hadn't heard of Ander Herrera at all. I may have been slacking last year when tracking Spain, but damn.

So is the bidding for Fellaini a feint? Or does Moyes want both of them?

I have a bad feeling that Utd are entering a "transitional" period. Lot of old players need to move on, but the players behind them are either not quite ready or haven't developed as predicted.

The most exciting thing I've seen from Utd so far this season has been the combination of Rafael and Zaha terrorizing defenses. Everything else seems too slow and stodgy.

Good piece of business from the Gunners if the Ozil deal goes, which (and I know we've said his a lot) looks very likely to happen.

Slight rumblings that if Real can line up a deal for Suarez, then Benzema will be allowed to leave too.

The last word I've heard is that Liverpool's most recent comments on Suarez leaving range from "Fark no" to "Not for sale, stop calling or we'll get a restraining order"

Love, love, love that Liverpool have signed Sakho. He and Agger are going to wreck some shiat in central defense. Plus Ilori is a little fast for a centerback, so I'm hoping Rodgers trains him for dual threat use as a CDM, a la David Luiz.

Hard to understand it. Sess was doing pretty well last year, don't know where his form went but does Sunderland really have a plan for striker?

If you had 36 mil fro Herrera, why didn't they bid that much on Fabregas?

Now THAT is a team that sunk fast. Near the peak of Italy 3-4 years ago, Serie B today.
