The Thanksgiving dinner features homemade stuffing and diced turkey that's wrapped in a ball, dipped in cream corn, rolled in cornmeal and then fried. The Southern-style meatloaf slices are coated in chicken-fried breading and then deep fried and served with garlic mashed potatoes, Texas cream gravy and a glaze for dipping.

I may be a Texan, but even I wouldn't eat that. But I'm unusually picky.

OMG, I want that!  I hope it shows up at next year's Iowa State Fair.

Speaking of which, as to deep fried fair food, I'm still just fine with the corn dogs, but this year they had deep fried prairie oysters.  I would have tried that, but I couldn't find it, what with having to help my daughter shepherd her four year old twins on their first state fair this year.

Now, my favorite state fair food is not deep fried, but grilled.  Pork chop on a stick.  Actually, it's not a stick but the chop is cut with about 2" of rib free to use as a handle.  It's a generous pork chop, very juicy bigger than my hand (and I have big hands) and about 1" thick.  Just wonderful.

I'd eat a lot of things, but a deep-fried wash basin isn't one.

I had deep fried Mac n cheese a few weeks ago. It wasn't bad but not really better than regular Mac n cheese

Would have to be an onion blossom. Although a good one takes 3-4 people to consume.

Among the other treats up for the choice awards include a deep-fried Nutella - cream cheese and hazelnut spread on flaky dough sheets, that are rolled and deep friend

And now Deep Friends....by Jack Handey.....

Really, a "favorite" deep fried food at the fair? That means you're really into it.
Go die in a frier.

Chicken-fried meatloaf sound really farking good.

But generally speaking I like it basic and classic. Cheese curds and minidonuts.
