SHR's press conference on Tuesday was a hoot - here's a collection of tweets from the various sources I follow

Gene Haas apparently thanks Kurt Busch and general anesthesia for making this deal possible.

Gene Haas: "here's the deal: I ran it by Tony first, but he was so messed up on Vicodin, he claims he doesn't remember."

Stewart-Haas Racing sounds like my house at Thanksgiving. "You did WHAT behind my back?!?! I ain't speakin to you ever again!!"

There's a 95% chance Tony Stewart and Gene Haas have never actually met in person. Ever.

I am not sure what TV show format would be more appropriate for SHR: reality show, sitcom, or soap opera. Can't decide.

Gene Haas says in his office all his team signs read, "Haas-And-Some-Other-Guy Racing."

Hello. I am a Daytona 500 winner and a Brickyard 400 winner. I am now unemployed because I'm not good enough. Who am I?

Sounds like they should change the name to "Haas-Stewart Racing". Gene Haas does what he wants, and that's all there is to it. lol

NASCAR has recommended Gene Haas and Tony Stewart go through their Road To Relationship Recovery Program.

Stewart on the phone with his doctor, informing him if there are any more procedures needed, he'll stay awake and just bite down on a stick.

Taking a cue from Gene Haas, and scheduling purchase of a new 1080P 80" Samsung HDTV during my wife's root-canal surgery.

Later on, Haas confirmed that actually BOTH he and Tony were crocked on elephant tranquilizer when they signed Danica.

Awaiting word from @scottdixon9 on whether Gene Haas' methods in signing Kurt Busch were fair, or a #DickMove.

Truex has a broken wrist, but that's nothing compared to what Gene Haas will have after Stewart gets a hold of him.

If anyone missed it, try to find a replay of today's truck race. Very good race, and the last 5 laps were pretty awesome!

I dunno, most people just seem interested in Max Papis getting smacked after the race.

I wish Fox Sports always covered the races. I hate having to provide my own boogities

I was flipping between the two races earlier, then went to my dad's house for wings on the last ten laps of the truck race. After the shinanigans, we started Indy from the beginning. We were laughing our asses off. My dad said it best... "When Diffy says it's a race of attrition it's just a polite way to say clusterfark."

I think the Nashville guy is still the best I've heard. Even got an autotune remix one year.

2013-09-01 07:30:15 PM
Did anybody catch the real name of that Lawrence Welk group that sang the national anthem? I'd like to be sure to avoid them.

Dinger has gotten a full time ride for next year. It's a quality seat... because it's a seat in the back of a hauler. JTG Daugherty.

//hauling the mail? Get a new catch phrase Brad.

That prayer followed by that singing group was a bit ironic to me.

But then again, ive been drinking.

I must have missed Nashville guy, I'll have to pay attention when they go back.

It wasn't really that bad, just heavy on the we worship you father, reference to the trinity and maybe a blood of Christ reference. I'm not really bothered that they still do the prayer given the southern roots, but what's wrong with "Hail Mary full of grace, help me win this stock car race"?

/I know I'm mixing baptists and Catholics.

Can Stenhouse do something with his first pole?

Leading the first lap is not one of those things.

Is that Scott "Speed" already running around the apron at 40 MPH on lap 5?

2013-09-01 07:39:59 PM
was that speed on the bottom of the track on his way to parking it?
