It's got to be a pretty exciting time for Pirates fans.

And they got that guy from those commercials today, too.

It's the balance of Pittsburgh. The Steelers are becoming shiatty so the Pirates step up to compensate.

Uncle Pooky: It's got to be a pretty exciting time for Pirates fans.

It is. They will choke in the playoffs, but its Massive progress to make it there. They have been getting progressively better the last couple seasons. Its now a matter of them being able to compete with the big money/market teams on a consistent basis.

Nah, they got Justin Morneau from the Twins; the commercial guy is Joe Mauer of the Twins.

Stop farking jinxing it. They need 2 more wins, and if you guys keep harping on it they'll go 1-and-all-the-rest to close it out just to fark with us. I've waited a long time for this, don't go messing it up.

Eh, I don't think they'll  choke exactly. They'll probably get beaten by a better team but it wouldn't be the end of the world. The fact that they're in this position with this offense is certainly a huge accomplishment.

What's scarier: The Pirates winning or the Pirates as buyers?

Anyway, this Red Sox fan hopes they get in the playoffs.  20 years is a really long time.

This is exactly how I've felt, too.  It's sad when you think all we've wanted to have were some winning seasons here and there, and not even aspiring to the idea of playoffs.  I don't even know how to hope for it anymore.

Though I am not a baseball fan at all, I am glad to see the Pirates finally doing well. It was a bit long there between playoff losses....

And that is crazy. Always thought Morneau would be one of those guys that died in Minnesota.

Except their starters look extra shiatty. The 0-4 means nothing, but, the craptastic performance from the players that count the most, does.

/go Buccos (to get back on topic)

From the way the NL standings look today there's a really good chance the wild cards will come out of the central too.

I had a moment of clarity today when I realized that my Buccos could face the Braves in the NLCS. Talk about a chance to exorcise your demons.

I'm going to the game tomorrow! Unfortunately, since it's not Liriano, Burnett, or (lately) Charlie Morton pitching, they're probably going to shiat the bed.

The word you're looking for is "lose."

I'm happy for Pirates fans, and I hope they do well in the postseason. The NL is loaded this year; scary teams in Atlanta and LA, a Pittsburgh team that could certainly do some damage, the perennially good Cardinals, and the Reds, who would have been in the NLCS last year had they not managed that hideous choke job against the Giants.

I'll be rooting for the Pirates right up until they get to the A's :)

This.

And this is very good for baseball to have teams like the Pirates in contention again. Only if the Royals could also do it.

The Braves make fun if the Pitates because they were only team in either league not to whip them in the playoffs. They're like a 35-year old bragging about his glory days in high school.

So... I'm not really believing it until (if) it happens.
