I think she was better in Man With Two Brains.

"I can't wait......... until next Tuesday." Then Steve Martin stands up and his hat stays on his lap.

/Movie also has the line "I couldn't fark a gorilla!"

I remember begging the local video store to have the movie poster of V.I. Warchowski when they were done with it back when it when was on VHS.
We spent many lonely nights together.

The first one was star-studded. This would appear to be a sensible career move.

How is this a Fail? Except that it's yet another sequel that should have been made 15 years ago.

So the joke is that this is the third one and they're incorrectly saying "to" instead of "too" do I have that right?

Ummm, Subby, Kathleen Turner did Undercover Blues which, while I loved it, is not exactly top tier material.  At worst this would be the same quality.

im not sure but i dont think so.  the "2nd" one was a prequel starring the guys as young idiots played by no-name actors.  this is an actual sequel with original cast members and directors.  also, 'too' or 'two' might be the intent.  either way 'to' is for them being dumb so yeah, something like that.

RocketRay: She also had health problems that kept her from working and staying in shape.

Her health problems came about as a result for auditioning for a lead role in the movie "All The Marbles...", a women's wrestling film starring Peter Falk. The studio had trained Miss Turner and several other starlets for the lead roles and the studio heads decided to let the women wattle stiff with the winners landing the lead roles. Unfortunetly for Miss Turner, somebody literally threw her into the third row where she suffered a broken hip and internal injuries. She's been suffering ever since.

Clearly subby hasn't seen that season (or two?) of Californication that she guest-starred on. Still a few steps above Dumb and Dumber, but far from top-shelf.

I didn't know that, I knew something had happened with her, but I honestly thought it was booze. That is horrible, I hope she got a hefty payout.

She's still hot, IMO...it's just that she was blazing hot when younger. Like looking into the sun.

"You mentally undress your friends, Tony Blair, the lollipop lady. Your thoughts are X-rated. You wonder if you're a paedophile - or just losing your mind. A sufferer describes the nightmare - and dark comedy - of  living with pure OCD being a man "

Fixed for accuracy.
Well, minus the Tony Blair part.

/not that there's anything wrong with that.

Ms. Turner has rheumatoid arthritis, a crippling and mobility ending disease.  It has only been in recent years that doctors have even been able to slow down its progression.  Rheumatoid arthritis is an auto-immune disorder where the immune system attacks its own joints.  My grandmother had it for 30 years before actual treatments that helped came about.

While Ms. Turner had her battles with drugs and alcohol in attempts to dull the pain, it isn't just the age that is taking its toll, the RA is slowly destroying her joints.  Drugs like Enbrel help but it runs $1000 to $2000/month.

upload.wikimedia.org

This image from Wiki looks BETTER than my Grandmother's hand did shortly before she passed away from suicide by surgery.  (Doctor told her a neck fusing procedure had a 90% chance of killing her and she couldn't get it scheduled fast enough after 60+ years of agony in an 85 year life span.)

The fact that Ms. Turner is able to get out and work is amazing.  Yeah, the movie will suck, but I'll watch it just because of the medical advances.

KWPLunchbox: Ms. Turner has rheumatoid arthritis, a crippling and mobility ending disease.

I didn't know how bad RA was until I saw the actor who played Klinger in M*A*S*H* talking about his struggles with it on a program. Horrifying. Sorry for your grandma's suffering, I can't even imagine.

2013-09-01 03:06:58 AM
I really hope the sequel doesn't suck, because the original Dumb and Dumber is one of my favorite comedies of all time.  It's one of those films I can laugh at no matter how many times I've seen it.

"Maybe she meant ten o'clock at night."
"Ya think?"
"Why would she have you meet her at a bar at ten in the morning?"
"I just figured she was a raging alcoholic."

Sorry never heard of her.

Dumb and Dumber was OK, but the Farrelly brothers really perfected their art of stupid comedy with Kingpin.  That movie is wall to wall jokes and there are very few misfires.

I'd definitely say D&D and Kingpin are their two best, but I'd probably rather see a Dumb and Dumber sequel (with the same actors and team making it) than a Kingpin one.

2013-09-01 04:12:19 AM
For any actress, landing any kind of notable role after age 40 is incredibly freaking difficult. Yeah she's still got name-recognition and celebrity on her side but generally that still doesn't get you cast unless you are Jennifer Aniston or Sandra Bullock, and they are 90's stars. Having a hard time thinking of equivalent female stars from the 80's that are still pulling in film roles at will. Maybe Sigourney Weaver, Glenn Close and Diane Lane.

For someone who has been through the meat-grinder of life as much as Kathleen Turner has been I say good for her that she has another chance to show what she can do.

Between The Man With Two Brains and Romancing the Stone a lot of brave kittens gave their lives over her in the early 80's.

I still feel awful for making for of her changed appearance years ago, way before I knew about her health problems.

I wasn't suggesting Kingpin needed a sequel.  It's really very good on its own.  I love that movie, no need to draw the story out any more.

Landlady: [Roy is throwing up in the background after having had sex with his Landlady, to keep from being evicted. The Landlady is too satisfied to care] What is it about good sex that makes me have to crap? I guess it's all that pumpin'. Pump and dump.
[She laughs at her own jokes]
Landlady: You really jarred something loose, tiger.

That's when I realized the movie was going to be magic. D&D had gross jokes, but the setup was lacking.  There was just enough setup to make the landlady funny.

WRONG!!!!

This is the second one because it is the first sequel. "When Harry Met Lloyd" was a  prequel. So the joke is they mean to call this one "two" and spell it "to". Ya get it? Yes, technically it's the third movie to have the name "Dumb & Dumber" slapped on it, but the prequel had nothing to do with the Farrelly Brothers, Jim Carrey or Jeff Daniels. It doesn't count for shiat.

2013-09-01 07:31:12 AM
That John Denver is full of shiat.

These are better than cash. These are IOU's. 250 grand, might want to hang onto that one. That's a car.

Get...Off...The...Phone... *SMASH!*

I got robbed by a sweet old lady on a motorized cart. I didn't even see it comin'!!

I'm sorry. You'll have to excuse my friend. He's a little slow... The town is THAT way.

Love that movie. I'll go see the next one.

I've seen said tits live. She played Mrs Robinson on the Broadway production of The Graduate and she did a frontal thing albeit with shadowing. The show also had Alicia Silverstone in bra and panties so it had that going for it too. This was in 2002 I believe.
