No cocaine, but surprisingly decent ice cream at Rite Aid.

Well, it really all depends which Rite-Aid you go to. Or Walgreens. Try Walgreens.

Except it wasn't in alphabetical order (n-o-m). And the fact that it bothers me this much is an indication that we need to legalize here in Missouri. I could do with some relaxation...

Mostly because most of the people who smoke pot in fly-over states are useless, scummy and dirty criminals; who's only accomplishment in life is they haven't gone to prison, yet.

Granted; there are some exceptions to the rule but, not many. Most of the people I know for a fact did drugs still live in their parent's basement.

/ personally; I don't care if someone decides to ruin their life by using drugs. I just say; good luck getting a job, hippie.

What's absolutely mind boggling is that farming states should be jumping at the chance to do it. Huge swaths of farmland that sucks for corn and soybeans can grow cannabis for another cash crop.

Play it up as getting the market before all the crazies on the coast build their own farms, and it should pass with huge numbers. Then just send a cluster of reps from all the flyover states to argue that the federal government should stay the hell out of small family farms so marijuana is as American as corn.
Places like the northeast should be the LAST ones to address the issue because agriculture isn't nearly as dominant.

I just don't forsee a lot of stoners going across state line to get high because its legal over there. The people that want to get high will always have a connection or 20. Even if there are roving bands of mad tourist stoners they can't be worse than the typical spring breakers.

that is a problem caused by being a relatively small country with legal pot surrounded by a country without legal pot.

the more areas that legalize pot the less issues with pot tourism there will be.

Mostly through theft. Most of the scrappers you hear about are addicts. Shoplifting rings? Addicts. Tax cheats? Addicts. Most of the long term prostitutes are addicts, strippers too.

Drugs, like meth, are a cancer on society. Pot isn't as bad as the rest; but, 99% of heavy users of other substances say that they tried pot first.

Successful people are more discreet about their drug use, so you are not aware of it. At my company, I know 2 VPs, head of the IT department, 3 or 4 top sales people and at least a half dozen other people that are regular pot smokers and all are valuable people to the company. Your outdated stereotypes only show your own ignorance.

So when they start buying their pot from a store that doesn't also sell drugs like meth or coke or heroin with a higher profit margin, maybe they won't be upsold on something harder?

Um, it's already a huge problem in kansas. There are troopers sitting on the west end of I-70 24 hours a day. Since this law went into effect; hardly a day goes by without a highspeed chase. Pot heads; who think that if they make it back to Colorado, they'll be safe.

Sounds like you are saying that it is not necessarily using marijuana that is the impediment to getting a job, but rather being blatantly open about it. Perhaps our stupid drug laws have something to do with that.

The problem is; the moment you say "18 and over for pot", you create a black market for people younger than 18.

Plus, kids are idiots; and will always want to do stuff that is taboo. If pot is legalized; a bunch of people, who would have never smoked pot, would smoke pot. Thus, creating a bunch of potential addicts. The societal effects could be catastrophic.

Dutch people are whiny pussies who are shooting themselves in the foot by removing the only reason anyone has to actually go there.

Anyway, that's apples to oranges since we're not talking about drug tourism in the states, merely the legality. So Portugal might make for a better comparison.

Now if you're looking to have some fun, try Peru, Uruguay, or Indonesia.

... So I hear.

Which might work if pot was physically addictive. As-is, though, it's less addictive than soda by that measure.

I've seen the research; I agree that pot, by itself, isn't addictive. But, meth? Very addictive. I'm saying that kids are idiots; and as such, it's not a huge leap from pot to meth, or coke, or LSD, or whatever.

And the legal status of pot doesn't have a damned thing to do with that. Using "won't someone please think of the children" as a reason to keep it illegal for adults is really stupid.
