Sorry subby, but it really wasn't all that good.
Seriously, who cares?

2013-08-31 04:30:54 AM
Like, that's just your opinion man.

Seriously 91% on Rotten Tomatoes says a lot of people other than you thought it was good.   I watched it just last night with my daughter, who also thought it was good.

Why do all of the photos look like a bunch of people had a party, and Jack Black decided to throw himself in.

I thought it was OK. You could tell there was a lot of last minute revisions. I bet the original had a lot more Joan Cusack.

But I guess the reason I liked it was when I learned all the kids were really musicians and really played on the soundtrack.

2013-08-31 08:13:51 AM
Why the hate? It's a fun movie. One of those kids movies where parents can watch it and not want to take a hammer to the temple.

Because his head is a 2 foot wide canvas where Ed Roth painted his expression.

Yeah, looks like he photo bombed the first weekend dinner at the nerd/honors dorm, you know, the one before they started hating each other.

It's not a  good movie by any stretch, but I do have a soft spot for it.

The chick that played bass makes my pants not fit well.

That bass player is still pretty cute. Shame she didn't have a solo at the end of the movie.

Yeah, it doesn't even come close to the fast and the furious series, or superhero movie #37. It's almost as if a computer program produced those knowing exactly what people expect, and that's the way i like it. Sterile and predictable.

I vaguely remember reading that she played a solo and it was cut out of the movie.

The best part of the whole film was this.

2013-08-31 10:00:26 AM
Maybe I'm just a sick person, but I thought the best part of the movie was when he said to the irate parents, "Your children have touched me. And I'm pretty sure I've touched most of them."

Great fun movie. Watched it with my kids many times. Lots of quotable one-liners.

"Latin...."

I still want to know why the bass player didn't get a solo at the end of the movie. Even the background singers got one.

Movie was worth watching just for the shot of that blackboard IMHO.  I get the feeling that Jack Black wrote that whole thing himself.

Funny, because that's exactly how I'd describe  School of Rock. There wasn't an inventive thought in the entire process of making the film, but it's obvious that the people who made the film were having a lot of fun. That fun is infectious. So yeah, it's a pretty formulaic comedy, right down to the "if this actually happened in the real world, there would be so much jail time involved" ending. It's got a better than average soundtrack. But it's stupid fun. "Guilty pleasure" territory.

The entire plot is original. You can't find a single parallel to any other movie. Jack Black didn't even have a love interest he had to woo.

But i guess we'll just agree to disagree.

It was Dead Poets Society with guitars solos instead of Walt Whitman.

Idealistic teacher forces a bunch of narrow-minded preppies to expand their boundaries. Eventually the establishment reasserts itself and forces the teacher out, but we see in the end that he had a lasting effect on the students after all.

Largely it's good to see that none of them ended up the cliche teen actor/trainwreck.

For the record I hated that movie.  But then again I grew up in an environment where going and playing rock music was something your parents were supposed to hate...that was the appeal of it.

But it's my tastes and my bias.  I speak for no one else but myself based on my experiences and life.

Ok, you might have something there.

But it's at least using some of the less popular ones. I swear most movies come out now reuse the same plot mechanics because it's what the audience expects. When just the pacing is different people get confused and angry.

how did Miranda Cosgrove turn out to be a bigger star then Rebecca Brown. Brown is cuter and appears to be more talented.

I guess Brown wouldn't put out to Dan Schneider.

I can't really tell after 10 yeas, so the Asian kid with glasses didn't turn up and one of the black girls, the singer (?), has now got an afro and has grown a beard?
I'm confused.

He was there, he just stepped away while the group picture was being taken. From what I've read, he received the biggest applause of the night.
