Flight attendants say they did not serve Meyer alcohol because he was visibly drunk from vodka he brought on board and he failed to obey their instructions.

And this colossal douchenozzle wasn't IMMEDIATELY escorted off the plane because.....?

They're saying he got drunk after the plane took off via the vodak he brought on board himself.

I don't know. The airline might have some liability here. I've seen a drunk not even let on the plane and escorted away by security. In Sioux Falls, where drinking is a basic survival strategy.

I honestly had no idea that the FBI is responsible for cases of sexual harassment on airplanes. TMYK, I guess.

So, wait, I can barely bring any toiletries onto a plane, and this guy managed to get enough vodak to get faced?

Bull shiat!

I believe offenses on planes that are in the air fall under federal law, and FBI is the federal LE.

The charges of assault (battery, actually), sound like BS. Tapping someone on the shoulder could be called battery, and again, is BS. Drunk and annoying is one thing, and people who actually live in a society should be able to handle a little bit of that. Arrested and in jail facing federal charges is another thing entirely.

That crossing state lines thing...  In Alaska, a fraud case was handed over to the FBI on the basis that it involved a phone circuit on a satellite signal that left the state of Alaska (going to space) on the way from one town to another.

I had a late night flight out of Chicago to Atlanta once. Across the aisle was an middle aged white guy sitting with a 20 something black chick. They didn't seem to know each other. I was kinda dozing in and out of sleep and when I opened my eyes I saw the chick giving him head under a blanket. As we deplaned, they went separate ways and acted like they had never seen each other in luggage claim. I really wanted to introduce myself to the girl but had no nerve.

also took an Ambien sleeping pill.

Yeah baby! Ambien freakout!  It's a QUAALUDE, Momma! Mess you up.  It's not REM sleep, and then you go insane.

Yeah, I get the whole Federal jurisdiction. I guess I'm just surprised they had to bring in the people responsible for domestic counterintel, counterterrorism, serial killers, and mafia takedowns, just for some drunk asshole getting handsy in public. Seems like shooting a fly with a bazooka.

Why don't they just ban alcohol at airports and on planes like they did smoking? Most of these things end up being a result of a passenger being drunk anyway. If a smoker can manage to go hours without a cigarette to calm their nerves, people can manage not having a drink.

2013-08-31 03:33:22 AM
Seriously they should not serve booze on planes or at the airport.

With this logic you could argue banning alcohol every where. How about we stop trying to infringe on freedoms just because of a few bad apples. Or how about this... most all war is a result of religion so lets ban religion. Most traffic accidents occur while the stereo is on so lets ban car stereos. Most child injuries are due to sports so no more sports. I could keep going but would rather make a drink and fondle something

+1 subby, but you missed out on the extra credit for being behind on the term, we now call it (and him) Filthner here in my part of San Diego!

I'm tossed out my farking eyes right now and I know better to than to do this on a plane. The only reason this should be news is so the guy's family gets the blame.

TFA said he also took ambien; a little bit of that stuff can go a long way.

Would that be the part of San Diego between the swingset and the stairs where the playground monitor can't see but you can see her?

I read "disruptive" as "diminutive". I got halfway through the article, imagining a horny midget running wild on a plane. It was much funnier that way.

Wait who is Filner?  I don't know anything about such a person.

So, I have to give up any liquids and sharp objects at the security check but once past them I can buy all the whiskey (flammable) and be given a knife with my on-board meal?

We should just ban passengers on planes. They are the ones causing the problems

related CSB:  My GF and I had a similar experience when we were flying to Albuquerque a few years ago.  It was a little plane with two seats in each side of the aisle, and the couple in front of us spent the entire flight making out, and there was definitely some hand action going on under a blanket.  We just assumed they were an amorous couple and just sort of lol'd at them until we overheard their conversation while we were landing---they were exchanging basic biographical  information, like where they were from and what they did for a living.  We realized that these people were total strangers.

/we also noticed that he had a ring, and she did not

I guess it must be the area of the country where I live but I rarely sit next to anyone who you would even remotely want to touch, sexually or otherwise.

Huh. I wonder if you perhaps saw an "adult actress" I met in O'Hare once. She readily told me what she did for a living and mentioned she shot a lot of video in the Atlanta area. She also mentioned the "specialty" that she was known for (deep throat). I can't recall her performing name. And no, I did not get a personal demonstration of her skills. I'm happily married and besides, I had to catch a flight to St. Louis. Though our conversation did make me rather late to board.

"Law enforcement found out later Meyer also took an Ambien sleeping pill."

Last item, probably the most relevant.    The guy was likely an Ambien Zombie at the time.   When even the FDA  warns about this kind of behavior, maybe it's not good for solving sleeping problems, especially in public places.

Gate agents are supposed to deny boarding to people who are visibly drunk.

They don't sometimes because confrontation is hard and why not let the flight attendants handle it...

2013-08-31 10:50:52 AM
I used to take small bottles of scotch on planes all the time, but now I can't. How did this guy do it? Is it possible that the airline is covering it's ass because a flight attendant did actually serve him?

Being drunk is bad enough, but it takes a special brand of stupid to drink while taking Ambien, especially in public. We've all heard the horror stories of Ambien just by itself. Throw in some vodak? Yeah, you're doomed, son.

That has been the case all my life vis-a-vis flying. Really, I've never ever sat next to anyone sexy or even a guy who would be interesting to talk with.
