Even though I have no reason in the world to, I like watching the movies.  They don't take themselves too seriously and they're always full of women and mindless action.  I say fark it, bring Russell in.  Hell, make his nickname Snake.  I'll slam two extra beers to make sure I enjoy it.  Not that I'll need them, but it usually happens that way.

2013-08-30 08:25:43 PM
Subby, I totally agree with you.  You would think the owners of this property would have gotten the message by now that the only reason people are buying tickets to the movie is to pay them to not make any more.  Maybe if we buy even more tickets to the next one they'll stop.

2013-08-30 08:32:40 PM
Much as I hate to say it:

The last 2 F&TF films have been enjoyable.  Not good, but I had a great time watching fast cars and pretty women in skimpy clothing.  Worth my $8.50 for a matinee.

Uh...in the States. Worldwide it has made 700+ million dollars.

And btw, they're just "F&F" movies in name. They're not really about races anymore. They're just generic action movies. Think Die Hard or Lethal Weapon.

He's paid his dues.

I have no problem with this casting.

2013-08-30 08:39:02 PM
The last few F&F movies have given me faith enough to let them make this choice without voicing complaint or irritation.

Consider also this nugget: Jason Statham is going to be one of the bad guys in the next one.

2013-08-30 08:40:16 PM
F&F movies have come a long way.
No more riced out Eclipses or absurd drifting turf wars.

I would love to see Kurt with his "Vtec kicked in, Yo!" face, haha.

Wait a minute - so there is an endless stream of retards who will go to the theater and watch mindless drivel?  And there are some actors who will abandon any principals to be involved in a movie to draw a fat paycheck off this army of retards?    I refuse to believe it...

Well, I don't know about you, but I'd never go watch a movie with an actor that abandoned members of our much maligned public school system.  I mean, you've got to have principles when it comes to principals.

You don't truly love Fast & the Furious movies unless you live by the rules.

Never granny shift when you should be double clutchin'.
Live your life one quarter mile at a time.
And never narc on nobody.

2013-08-30 09:43:45 PM
For the last few installments, the Fast & Furious series has been that guilty pleasure you actually don't have to feel that guilty about.

2013-08-30 09:44:14 PM
Sure subby, because Kurt Russell has no business being in a mindless car-based action movie.

2013-08-30 09:46:14 PM
Kurt Russel will reprise his role of Jack Burton and instead of bossing a semi hauling hog to Chi-Town, he will be delivering some choice rides to a local business man who he does not realize is Lo Pan's great great grand son.  So when the Fast  gang steals his rig with the cars, Lopan the fourth calls in Thunder, Rain, and Lightening to track them down.

Jack Burton is also on their hit list so he catches up with Toretti and the boys and tells them they do not know what they are dealing with but he has a way out.  It seems that years ago when they had the battle in NYC Jack Burton wrote down the recipe for Egg Shens potion and he and the whole Toretti gang juice down with it before they battle the elementals.

Meanwhile, the buyer of the cars is Jason Statham as Frank Martin from the Transporter.  He needs those cars to do his jobs in but the plot twist is that  Frank Martin and Brian O'connor are homosexual lovers who first met when Frank was a cop back in La.  He was the only one who could catch Martin, and catch him he did.

There is a big fight and the Elementals are defeated and Jack Burton, who is also a minister, gay marries Martin and O'connor and they drive off into the sunset, with the rest of the Toretti gang looking shocked as hell.

Ending scene is JAck Burton in his truck talking into his cb.

Just remember what ol' Jack Burton does when people rant and rave against popular mindless drivel that the masses like to watch to give their brain a rest, Ol Jack Burton says that not every movie needs to be an Ingmar Bergman or Almodovar flick that leaves you empty inside and questioning who you are in your day to day existence.  Yeah, Jack Burton just looks then people in the eye and tells them to turn off PBS and go outside, there is big old world out there to see and to pull the sticks out of their asses.

It's Toretto.  You granny shifted when you should have double clutched.

I bet you narc on people too.

I tend to look at them more as D20 Modern campaigns, sans techno-magic and on the Silver Screen :p

They need some cops in this one so Kurt will reprise Cash. That movie could've been a FnF prequel for its level if cartoonish violence.

Statham could do his take on Palance's role.

Considering that last scene in the last one?  With one girl flying off of a tank, over the guardrail, only to be caught by ANOTHER person flying through the air from the other direction and them both landing on a hood of a car and walking away with nothing more than scratches?  Hell yeah, they both rolled 20s.

Harriet Vane: I farking love Fast & Furious movies.

They are hilariously cheesy, utterly dedicated to their premise, well-acted, well(enough) written, well-shot, and well-choreographed. And while they aren't perfect gender-wise, they're better in that regard than they get credit for(example: the best fight scene in 6 was between two kick-ass ladies). It'd be nice to see a fem char who wasn't motivated by her connections to a man though).

This. Its not anything but mindless action, but somehow, some way, its 6 movies in and they keep getting better (even if the bar is set low). Most of fark may hate it but its a rare feat for a franchise to actually get better with each iteration.  Look at the hangover for Christ sakes

Captain Ron kicks ass. Big Trouble In Little China is his best movie IMO but I'm probably a little biased.

Same here.  They are stupidly fun movies, and the recent one and legit action sequences only touched up with mild CGI.  I don't understand the haters at all.

Fast Five...rottentomatoes.com score = 77%
Fast & Furious 6...rottentomatoes.com score = 69%

and those are the CRITICS score...not the audience...

Nice try, dumbmitter.

Even bigger news to me is that Tony Jaa is in it.  He needed to get away from trying to write direct and be in a movie that can show his action skills.  F&F7 is a perfect fit.

That's the thing, the series WAS going into trash direction.

1 was decent (interesting new concept at least: A Need For Speed movie!!)
2 was eh...since Diesel left and Paul Anderson has zero charisma, plus it had farking Tyrese as a main character.
3 was an abortion.
4 went back to basics since they got the whole crew together again. Diesel was low in fame and needed a push.
They even filmed part of it in Dominican Republic (represent, biatches!!) and I ate fried chicken with Diesel. He also publicly endorsed the reelection of the then current President and recorded some ads. Weird shiat. I bet he was given some nice tract of prime tropical land for that.
Here are a couple of spots:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TRSVzx4n11A &http://www.youtub e.com/watch?v=PDhkdOiPsPQ

Anyway, yeah, 4 was nostalgia good, but then something happened....

For 5 they got The Rock! And it was awesome! And the series became a straight up action franchise. And holy shiat Diesel vs Rock.

Then 6 doubled down on that and made Rock's character bigger.

Yeah, The Rock now has a career of reviving dead franchises. He jumpstarted GI:JOE Retribution lol and now the series is viable again.
