(Daily Kos)   Teabagger arrested after showing up on an overpass with an assault rifle and an "Impeach Obama" sign: "I was publicly humiliated." Um, nope - you were doing a pretty good job of that yourself, actually   (dailykos.com) divider line 607

There was nothing illegal about what the police did you bastard.  If I see a guy with a gun standing on an overpass over a busy road you're damn right I'm calling the police, and the police had every right to draw on you considering you looked like a farking lunatic sniper.

it was probably the assault rifle that garnered the attention of local authorities.

Can someone explain to me what possible reason someone could have for standing on an overpass with a farking assault rifle?

Hey "Responsible Gun Owners", this is the type of thing that makes you all look crazy.

We've had Teabaggers on an I-565 overpass here in Huntsville several times now, carrying "Impeach Obama" signs.

Didn't notice if any of them were carrying guns openly.

They did notice me shooting them the Bird as I drove under them ... several times each day.

I know this guy.  He camps out in front of the DMV sometimes with his Barney Rubble-esque hobgoblin buddy.  He's a total jackass.

They carry signs that say "IMPEACH OBAMA" because it's hard to find a piece of cardboard big enough to say "At the next appropriate election, support candidates who are willing to amend the constitution so that members of the executive branch can be subject to recall elections.  At the same time, be sure to also support members of your state legislature who would be likely to ratify such an amendment.  Do whatever outreach you can to raise support for similar candidates in the other 49 states, and in the event that there is a recall election held before the president is term limited, VOTE AGAINST 0BAMA!!!@@"

I wish we could understand each other

Instead we are caught up in playing silly games

Our overriding need to compete and win makes us do crazy shiat

I hope that we humans move beyond such attitudes.

I doubt anything less of an evolution on the scale of our DNA could do it

Maybe he meant "Em-peach Obama," and he just had a nice fruit basket for the president.

Q. What's the difference between this guy and Charles Whitman?
A. About 1.5 seconds.

On a highway overpass with a loaded rifle? Oh you bet that's an arrestin' at gunpoint. Quit biatching, AW.

I saw one of these idiots outside of woodinville. He was all by himself with an arab flag (I don't know the nation but it had one of those sabers they like to use), and looked like the saddest one man band in the world.

Was it only a little over five years ago that Fox News was saying if you disrespect the President and the White House, you disrespect America? That any negative comment about W Bush meant you were acting as an un-American?

Yeah, I'll bet.  You want rough?  I'll tell you about rough.

In fact, there ain't nobody in this thread that knows SH*T about rough.

Y'all can all shut the **** up. I'm a Tea Partier and proud of it. I swear to god I went to hell and back to be able to call myself a Tea Partier. I went through some shiat that y'all could never imagine going through.

One of our older brothers is a US Navy Seal and just got back from somewhere in Afghanistan.  He said that he would rather go through basic training and he would rather go back and fight for a week before he would come back and go throughour initiation. Trust me, y'all motherf*ckin **** couldn't handle the sh*t that goes down for 5 minutes...

Go on and hate on my fraternity if you want, I don't give a sh*t, there's nothing I can technically do about it, but I think it's a proven fact that the only reason have for hating on fraternities is that they don't know, or are scared to go through what it takes to be apart of it.

For those of you that don't know, The Tea Party is an active chapter of what is known as the "Skull and Bones" the most secret society in the nation. More secret than the CIA, and possibly the NSA. George Bush, Jr, and Sr, were both Dekes, as well as both the Roosevelts, andGerald Ford. How about THAT?  We had 7 of our leading presidents, more than any other fraternity of common group ever. We were the leading provider for the Civil war, both north and south, we were the first fraternity in the state of Mississippi, as well as Alabama, and Louisiana.

Y'all don't know sh*t about what I've been through, and until you come over and go through what I've been through to call my brothers brothers then **** off. I don't give a **** about anybody on here. So shut the **** up.

This must be a thing with these idiots...

There's a few that hold up the same stupid "Impeach Obama now" signs over I-95 in Providence, RI. farking useless morons.

And I like to flip them the bird, as well. : )

By which I mean "that's how long it would take him to go from 'standing there protesting' to 'sniping drivers'," and it's worth checking out. I'm not saying that sniping drivers was ever his intent.

Hell, if I'm driving down the freeway and look up to see some dude on the overpass with an assault rifle I am reasonably certain my first assumption is going to be that he's preparing to open fire.

I'm all for responsible gun ownership.  Waving your assault weapon around in eyesight of a busy freeway is NOT. EXACTLY. RESPONSIBLE.

they protest on overpasses built with taxpayer money.

Not much of a revolutionary if he let the cops take his guns.

That said, all this open-carry shiat looks like a way to intimidate people who might ask this idiot to back his accusations.  You can't really have free speech when some asshole carrying a few weapons out in the open holds up his idiot sign and can't even back why he supports that.  That said, why do these 'job creation' types have so much time to protest?  Shouldn't he be working instead of this?

TuteTibiImperes: There was nothing illegal about what the police did you bastard.

FTFA: Virginia is apparently an open-carry state.

Actually, yeah, he did have every right to openly carry. Treating him like a criminal and forcibly searching him on the grounds that he was openly carrying a gun - when such an action is expressly allowed by state law and he was doing nothing else to warrant a search - was probably illegal. That whole 4th amendment thing, ya know.

Sorry to burst your bubble.

Wrong.

Every citizen of Virginia has the right to walk around with a loaded rifle.

...And the local police are well within their rights to detain and disarm him while they figure out what a man is doing with a loaded rifle on a highway overpass.

They're aslo well within their rights to arrest him if he fails to cooperate fully with them.

Just because people have a right to open carry, doesn't mean the police don't have a right to ensure that some crazy person isn't walking around looking for somebody to shoot.  If you choose to exercise your right to open carry, expect the police to exercise their right to ensure the public safety.

Impeach Obama sign is a mental illness. And yes I do like it when the police detain people when they are doing something dangerous in public. Like I wish they would have prevented your parents from spawning.

Awww, look everybody, a butthurt liberal who thinks anybody with a gun should be arrested!

"I was illegally searched, my weapons were illegally taken from me, I was illegally detained. I was publicly humiliated. "

No, nothing illegal happened to you, you tool.  The police showed up, took all your guns away until they could find out what the fark you were doing.  At which point it appears they gave you your toys back and let you go home and call the local Fox affiliate.

Remember that the next time they arrest 50 protesters for no reason and hold them for a weekend.
