Guess he finally realized that he was the head coach of one of the worst run franchises in history of sports.

Hey now KingKauff, it's not like he's the head coach of the Atlanta THRASHERS!

True, but I still stand by my statement. Also, do NOT get me started on the Thrashers. I mostly blame Gary Bettman for that whole fiasco. Don't listen to him when he talks about attendance. Atlanta showed up to the games. Consistently. Bettman just wanted the millions of dollars he'd get if he could place a team back in Winnipeg.

He should call the Nets new head coach.

Who wouldn't drink if they were the head coach of the Hawks?

I wouldn't go so far as to say that Atlanta showed up for those games.  The other team's fans did, but not Atlanta.

The important thing is that you found someone to blame.

Wrong, subby. Why would I click a story about the Atlanta Hawks?

The only NBA franchise I can think of that is more irrelevant than the Hawks is the Bucks.  Really, Milwaukee might have the lowest profile of any professional sports team.  The last interesting thing they did was trade Lew Alcindor.

The last Hawks game I went to was Hawks - Bucks.  I don't remember anything about it.  At least the tickets were free.

I blame the ownership group made up of a bunch of guys too poor to be able to afford a team on their own so they all went through their couch cushions to find enough coin. They're basketball guys. They didn't want to own a hockey team and they found a way to get rid of it at the first chance they had. That also helped pay off the original deal after the purchase of both teams that left them overextended. They've been dysfunctional ever since. Heck, they even tried to sue their law firm for not keeping the members of the group from fighting among themselves. The NHL should have never approved the sale of the Thrashers and the NBA probably would have been better off not approving the deal either. Ownership groups are a recipe for a poorly run club.

The most hilarious aspect about the hockey side of that is that THERE WERE OFFERS TO BUY THE TEAM AND KEEP IT IN ATLANTA!

Yeah, sadly no one gives a crap about hockey down here.  I sure don't.  Course I hate basketball too.  Pretty much go to Braves or Falcons games and that's it.  May go see Kennesaw State play since I went to that school, but just football.

The Hawks have been decent to good for a long time now.  Sadly, decent to good isnt good enough.

ASG came up with all kinds of crazy terms for the new owner if they wanted to continue to play in Philips Arena. Because of the stupid way sports facilities are financed and operated, even though Philips is owned by the public, ASG gets to run it. Don't be too surprised if Arthur Blank decides to not buy an expansion MLS team and when someone else wants to bring one in, names absurd terms for letting them play there. Of course right now he's strongly implying that he'll get a team without making a promise because the deal for his new stadium isn't finalized. PSLs, no soccer, huge ticket price increases, etc., will all come out into the open once the city and state are legally obligated and unable to back out.

Bucks-Bulls games in Milwaukee are about as lopsided in favor of Bulls fans as Bucks-Bulls games in Chicago.

As a Chicagoan, I'd rather see a hockey franchise in Milwaukee than NBA. Wisconsin would support an NHL team.
