This is kind of interesting, because it's long been believed that if you cross Scientology like she did, your career in Hollywood is dead.  And while this isn't exactly top billing in a blockbuster summer movie, this is pretty high profile, certainly much higher profile than anything else she's done lately.

I think that South Park "This is what Scientologists really believe" episode was really a turning point in all this.  That episode aired without Parker and Stone or Comedy Central being sued into oblivion, and it was a sign that maybe you can take these guys on.

That, other news stories and people coming out against Scientology means there's a bigger microscope on them. Like nowadays if you're caught cheating in Vegas you get banned or arrested instead of winding up in a hole in the desert next to Joe Pesci. The good old days of Scientologists disappearing people and careers might be closing.

I was recently in Vegas at the Bellagio, and it was not what I expected, it was like Jersey Shore meets every Asian stereotype in the world.  I talked with some older natives who said vegas was much better when it was mob run.

I know some Scientologists. They're increasingly absent during holidays, because they're in Florida for Scientology functions.

I asked about the expense, thinking the air travel would be getting expensive. They said they'd spent about $300,000.00 so far.

"Huh? Do you fly a private jet?"

"No, that doesn't include the travel. Those are the fees"  (I don't recall the exact word, it was probably not "fee".)

The "church" has vacuumed $300K out of their retirement and college funds, and they're happy to oblige.

/ I may have a concussion from my facepalm.

I can't avoid them. Too many family/friend ties.

The best I can do is let the impressionable family members and kids know how dangerous the cult is.

When you sign on to do Dancing with the "Stars" there is a solid chance...
A) You were never really a star
B) You might be a star later
C) You were a star some years ago, but have pretty much burnt out

No thats if you cross the joos.

I do know one scientologist, she is more of a lapsed one and hardly does a thing for them anymore. Her family has the money to afford it too. She never said anything about it it until once when we were on the phone she said she was in one of their hotels. They have weird rules about staying there.

Sometimes you'll hear people say that inside every fat woman is a thin woman struggling to get out. And you need to run away from those people, because they're cannibals.
