Anyone else wondering why Johnny football has to sit out 1/2 a game?

That's like a high school punishment for being late to practice

I would like to reference Mr. Timmothy Tebow at this juncture.

It seems apropos.

The trophy will be won by Zach Mettenberger.  You are welcome.

My dark horse candidate, Michigan QB Devin Gardner.

If Nebraska's defense is as bad as it was last year, Taylor Martinez will have a Heisman calibre season and put up plenty of highlight reel plays

...and then Braxton Miller beats Michigan like a rented mule on the way to his Heisman.

I don't think unfounded means what submitter thinks. It's actually pretty easy to see where the preseason Heisman list comes from.

Preseason Heisman List How To:

1. Name the best 3-4 QBs from last year
2. Name the best WR (or RB if no WR is available) from last year
3. Overhype some defensive player who actually has zero chance of winning

Boom, preseason Heisman list complete.

What does a Bobcat fan have to do with this discussion?  It's about Heisman speculation.

It is Teddy Bridgewater's to lose. He's gonna put up Madden numbers on a bunch of cupcakes.

Well, first we laugh at the fact that Michigan cannot tell the difference between two different schools. Plus, I grew up in Columbus as a Buckeyes fan, and live in Columbus and am still a Buckeyes fan.

Also for 2012:
Tyler Tettleton- 228 of 367, 62.1% completion, 2844 yards, 18TD 4INT
Denard Robinson - 89 of 167, 53.3% completion, 1319 yards, 9TD 9INT

Even if you factor in rushing stats:
Tettleton - 244 yards, 4TD
Robinton - 1266 yards, 7TD

So:
Tettleton - 3088 total yards, 22TD (and even plus 1 receiving TD)
Robinton -  2585 total yards, 16TD

We also know more about good QBs than them and their whole "OMG Robinson is going to win the Heisman!!!"

Look, if they didn't make these lists in the preseason then they wouldn't have all their late-season stories about how some players are surprise stars and how others are complete disappointments.

You can't expect sports writers to work without these kinds of crutches. Actually having to write unique stories without filler would break their brains.

Just like how you can't expect top 25 voters to actually form their own opinions on who the top teams are. Without those preseason listings they'd spend the first few weeks of the season lost in a sea of 2-0 and 3-0 teams.

2013-08-29 08:29:43 AM
Tommy Rees 3 seasons at ND:  34 TD, 24 INT, QBR - 132.2
Joe Montana 3 seasons at ND:  25 TD, 25 INT, QBR - 125.6

Book it, Rees by a landslide. My work here is done, folks.

I hate to say it but OSU is probably not going to lose and Braxton Miller will probably be the favorite through most of the season. Now if they drop that Cal game it'll be different.

Bridgewater's not going to win it. Voters will hate his schedule. And Louisville has no shot at the title game even if they are undefeated. It would take more help than is fathomable for that to happen.

Not that I wouldn't want to see it. I just live in reality.

We can tell, we just don't care.   Go Blue, beat Ohio.

Well I know for sure the basketball team cares, football would be the same if they played them
