"That's a scary thought," Gohmert agreed.    Damn...

2013-08-28 10:39:37 AM
I'm pretty pretty sure all of Gohmert's thoughts are scary.  The guy is afraid of his own shadow, after all.

Christ what a retard

There's a kind of notion that everyone's opinion is equally valid. My arse! A bloke who's been a professor of dentistry for 40 years doesn't have a debate with some eejit who removes his teeth with string and a door.

Science knows it doesn't know everything; otherwise, it'd stop. But just because science doesn't know everything doesn't mean you can fill in the gaps with whatever fairy tale most appeals to you.

God, if we just had a lot more measles, polio, cervical cancer, mumps, rubella, and the like, we could have so many more Christian children to cherish!  It all makes sense now... vaccines have done nothing but devastate the world's population!  Look at the history... wait, I mean "study it out."

This person is the best representative that happens to be conservative they could find in his chunk of Texas.  Think about that.

2013-08-28 11:03:39 AM
Technically, since he's definitely of the ruling class, he is an "elite", which means he has privileged information on what is going on. That means humans are being culled through vaccinations.

I say good. I don't like most people, they're noisy, rude, and smell.

Not so many years ago the GOP had the House, the Senate and the POTUS chair and were ranting on  and on about everything. A FARKer here asked the simple question "What are they so mad about about when they control everything?"

I'm gonna guess they get to heaven and start biatching about everything there as well.

2013-08-28 11:10:49 AM
Until we develop a vaccine against the stupid, he's got nothing to worry about.

2013-08-28 11:12:34 AM
i wonder what percentage of the republican house is actually retarded. it creeps higher every two years. i'd wager that we've passed 50 percent now, though.

They've been trotting out that Bill Gates thing for years.

"The world today has 6.8 billion people... that's headed up to about 9 billion. Now if we do a really great job on new vaccines, health care, reproductive health services, we could lower that by perhaps 10 or 15 percent."

It's been well documented that once more children start living into adulthood, people stop having so many damn kids. The reason for the bulge in population right now is that medical technology got out in front of cultural reproductive norms, but things are starting to level off. After peaking out at around 5 to 6 children per woman, it's down to 2.8 and expected to fall to around 1.85 by the middle of the 21st century. Gates was accurately pointing out that getting better health service (including vaccines) to the poorer parts of the world, which are currently responsible for the vast majority of the population growth, will hasten this process and eventually lead to a reduction in global population. Now while I don't agree with the position that population is the main problem, getting a handle on it now wouldn't be a bad idea.

I'm sure he was vaccinated as an infant, and look how he turned out.

Sybarite: Now while I don't agree with the position that population is the main problem, getting a handle on it now wouldn't be a bad idea.

Having, and losing so many children has got to be an anchor on upward mobility for poor people worldwide.  It drives hunger, malnutrition, and localized overcrowding that all contribute to outbreaks of communicable diseases like cholera and other, vaccine-available ailments.

If families are having six kids so that they can end up with three or four adults to ultimately take care of them later, then improved vaccine use can trim that without the needless suffering of all those kids.  Having a 10% smaller population with a 50% higher survival rate for kids seems pretty damned merciful and good.

Fark is full of fairly "normal" people on both sides of the Right v Left political scale.

This guy isn't normal, not even a little. He's absolutely batchit insane, yet he has mor money than most of us.

We need to be less normal.

Where do they get this stuff?  I mean, if my whackadoodle neighbor warns me about liberals culling the population, I can say "OK, he got this from those douchebags Gohmert and Keyes," but where do they get it?

From your batsh*t neighbor, the reliable primary voter.  The pols and pundits don't need to believe it, they just need to sell it.  If it weren't for your batsh*t neighbor (not mine; he got evicted) and many like him, these lunatics wouldn't be in office.

It starts with a nephew sending an E-mail to an old uncle or aunt.  They nephew makes this shiat up while he is high and enjoys farking with his older relatives.  The old people think by virtue of the information being relayed via the internet that it must be true.  They write a letter of concern to their Congressman or Senator.  Someone repeats it to Fox News, Glenn Beck or some other retarded right-wing radio personality.  Now this is information being officially reported where the other paranoid politicians can seize on to in and repeat it back to Fox New, Glenn Beck....

At this point the story is now vetted as factual and common knowledge.

We used to marginalize, mock, and shun people that talked like this.  And if they kept it up, we'd see that they got the mental health treatment they so desperately needed.

2013-08-28 12:21:43 PM
Yes.  'That's' the reason why we have vaccinations.  So by all means, don't take them.  No, I'm sure Measles, Mumps, and Rubella are just imaginary and you nor your offspring will die from those horrific diseases.

Raw Story is as much part of the problem as Fox News.

Pretty sure the anti-vaxxers will accomplish their own culling without any outside intervention.

Not that Gohmert has any ties to Texas megachurch Ground Zero for Measles outbreak.  (with a fine pic of a vacination needle)

//Louis your check from al Qada for the biowarfare accidentilcal outbreak got stolen in Customs.

A Congressman guest hosting a show on Fox News. Both Sides Bad.

2013-08-28 12:26:29 PM
It seems like it's a few flavors of  conservative Christians who are trying to cull the herd voluntarily by abusing vaccinations. I would have no problem with that at all if it didn't have the potential to affect so many others who aren't being willfully stupid.

//to be fair, the left has some crazy anti-vaxxers as well.

2013-08-28 12:26:55 PM
Holy shiat, Gohmert said something pants-on-head retarded!! Quick, to the fainting couch!

2013-08-28 12:27:31 PM
Yes, how dare we want parents to vaccinate their children so they don't die or contract diseases that could kill other people.  That's crazy talk!  Clearly the correct way to go is more dead children.....how silly of us not to have seen that.

Whenever Rep. Gohmert shows up in the news, my brain just looks at him and goes "HOLY CRAP! It's Alternate Universe Michael Scott! Instead of joining the Dunder-Mifflin paper company, he went bold and became a republican senator!"

Child sacrifice? Why that's Gohmert's next rant. The government wants to prevent religious parents from practicing child sacrifice.

Why? WHY?

Because the man is a *FEDERAL ELECTED OFFICIAL*. Fark, how is that NOT terrifying?! This man wields far more power than you or I, power that can help be a tipping point in how research is funded or laws are passed.

For fark's sake, why would you NOT want to know this man is balls to the wall crazy?

Even if I accept your premise (which I don't, by the way), it's ridiculous to suggest that an obscure Web site could under any circumstances be "as much a part of the problem" as a propaganda outlet disguised as a top-rated cable news network.

Giving more press to the Family Research Council and whatnot falls under this problem, however:

Felgraf: Because the man is a *FEDERAL ELECTED OFFICIAL*. Fark, how is that NOT terrifying?! This man wields far more power than you or I, power that can help be a tipping point in how research is funded or laws are passed.

Pollution is the third Horseman nowadays.  Pestilence was retired back in the 30's with the discovery of penicillin.
