It's hard to find good pizza in Pittsburgh. There are good options if you like Neopolitan (Mercurio's in Shadyside and Il Pizzaolo on Market Square). But decent delivery? Vocelli's is only edible if you pile it on with toppings. When there's a pound of sausage on every slice, the shiatty crust and boring sauce can be ignored. Pizza Perfecta is very doughy, but decent enough. The only consistently good place is Fat Tommy's (also on Market Square), but a) who lives downtown and can order a pizza from there for dinner? and b) that place serves every pizza with a side of twenty health code violations.

And you didn't even get into the Mineo's vs. Aiello's pizza fight.

I thought for sure this was about the "O" at Pitt.   And t3knomanser,  seriously??  You can't find good pizza in Pgh?!?!   Bishops, Vincents, Monte Cello's (the best!) are all very good.   I miss Pittsburgh pizza, can't find good pizza here in Los Angeles for the life of me.

Pizza Perfecta is the Shadyside branch of Mineo's. Doughy, and the sauce is a little sweeter than I'd like.

What I did forget about was Pizza Sola, though. Pizza Sola is  awesome, but they suck for delivery. They're great for walk-in service though.

Good  delivery (not in downtown) is very hard. I live in Shadyside, and the only decent delivery I've found is Perfecta. Downtown has plenty of good options. And goddamn, do I want some Pizza Sola, now.

I dunno dude, I'm from the burbs (W. Mifflin)  and we always had good pizza delivered.  Never an issue.   I miss Pgh pizza :(  And you are so close to Little Italy, I'm surprised you can't find a decent delivery place.  Shocked, in fact.

There was a great place in Bloomfield that delivered, but I'm not sure if it's still open.

I moved recently, my delivery options went to shiat. It's a sad state of affairs.

Best pizza in PA is not in Philly or Pitt.  It's in Trucksville, PA and it's called "Pizza Perfect".  And it is perfect.

I've never had a bad pizza in my life. That particular combination of tomato, cheese, pepperoni, and bread is just f*cking magic. You can't really screw it up.

Honestly the best pizza I had in Pittsburgh was from the Kosher place in Squirrel Hill. Coming from NY, it was a big culture shock.

Yes, you can. ARA Food services (now Aramark), used to make pizza with imitation cheese on it. We'd fight over who had to eat the last piece.

How the hell have none of you so-called Pittsburghers mentioned Fiori's (undisputed king) or Beto's (not my style, but still massively popular)? Vinnie pie is glorious but basically is a souffle, and Rollins makes a helluva margherita pizza. I can forgive forgetting all of those, but Fiori's? You  haveto mention Fiori's.

I for one will miss Larry & Carol's. Their mushroom and meth special on Wednesdays couldn't be beat.
The cocaine calzones on the other hand...

Enrico's Biscotti Company on the strip has good brick oven pizza.

It's certainly more tolerable than the large, soggy saltines that they sell in NYC.

I go up to Pgh once a semester or so and stay in Bloomfield, need to find decent delivery there which isn't Papa Johns.

Had Mineos up in squirrel hill, thought it tasted like ass.

Used to be a little Italian-named pizza near my ex-wife's house.  No seating, delivery only.  Never saw anyone but a handful of gangbangers in it, never saw a pizza go out the door or being pulled out of the oven, never saw them delivering anything.  Never advertised or put up flyers.

/I mean, come on.  If you're money laundering, you should at least keep up the pretense that you're running a business and it isn't just your gang's hangout.

They don't always have it, but sometimes the Groceria Italiana right there behind the Pleasure Bar sells a ricotta pizza that consists of cutting the top off an entire loaf of bread, covering it in mozzarella, ricotta, greens, tomato, olives, sausage and pepperoni and wood-firing it. Good god.

Ha i actually ate at that pizza place while at PITT a couple months ago- not as exciting but i thought ok

I am more of a fan of Pizza Milano out in Robinson myself - some of the best i've had in the 'burgh

Because Betos is a goddamned travesty.

I know it's popular, but that is unacceptable.

I was going to, but figured the Mineo's/Aiello's fight was more well known.

I've never had Beto's pizza, despite living fairly close to it throughout my youth.

Then you must never have had what they call "New York style" pizza.
It's a wafer-thin doughy substance with grease and some kind of tomato-like product and fake cheese.

I'm pretty sure not every Italian from Naples moved to New York city. So shut your Yelp-posting yuppie mouth.
