Scoffers have probably never lived in Germany. Similar insurance is sold on the moon for people wishing to view Germany.

Is this because of Twilighters?

...I'm confused. I thought insurance was to compensate you for loss on an item that is valuable. Moon watching is free and you can't own the moon the last time I checked.

IIRC, confirmation of part of Einstein's General Theory of Relativity was delayed for several years because scientists who needed to photograph total eclipses of the sun were being thwarted by both war (they couldn't get to a part of Russia during the Revolution) and cloud cover.  These guys would travel half-way around the world - this is in the 1915-1920 period - only to be stopped by a cloudy day.

Yeah, I'd want to have my ass covered for clouds!

/Since the effect is very small, you need to see stars as they just emerge from behind the Sun's edge.  A total eclipse blocked enough sunlight to allow those stars to be seen.
//Failure to get the pix also delayed Einstein's Nobel Prize for GR!
