Creamed corn laughs at your shenanigans.

Wrong. Cheese curds don't even make the list..

2013-08-28 09:12:05 AM
Conch Fritters. Hushpuppies, only better.

2013-08-28 09:13:55 AM
I must be the only person who does not care for hush puppies.  Worse still is actual food with a hush puppy coating.

"Hush puppies are the best deep fried food in existence."

Counterpoint: hush puppies are not actually food.

2013-08-28 09:14:19 AM
Sorry but if I had to pick one fried food to top the list it would be good old fried chicken.

cameroncrazy1984: Uh, chicken wings?

Yeah, but inevitably a plate of deep fried wings makes me think of smoked wings and how I'd rather be eating those.

Hush puppies with bits of onion and jalapeno?  Delicious... get in my belly already!

Oh hells yeah. Went to Homecoming this past weekend just to sample EVERY platter of fried chicken. You bet I'm willing to endure an hour service just to be able to eat chicken fried by little old ladies who have been doing it for decades.

JollyMagistrate: Conch Fritters. Hushpuppies, only better.

Love me some conch fritters. I ate my weight in them the last time we went to the Keys because conchs might be put on the endangered list making conch fritters and chowder a thing of the past.

when i was in alaska, this one place had amazing corn fritters. if youre wondering why alaskans are fat.. it's because of those things. the other food at that place (sourdough mining co) was just ok though.

Hush puppies are delicious. That's why that stuff you with them at all-you-can-eat seafood restaurants.

I love hush puppies. I love deep fried oreos. I also love making fried chicken.

I always found those to be tough, but it may have just had them prepared by cooks who didn't know how to properly cook them.

Oysters are the same way - nine times out of ten, they are overcooked. Like shrimp, they only need to be in the oil for a few minutes.

If you're willing to classify spring rolls as deep fried, then I would beg to differ. I do love me some hush puppies though. Beer-battered, please.

Deep. Fried. Refried. Beans.

/That is all

Cheese curds are nasty.

My vote would definitely be hush puppies, especially the ones from this quaint little restaurant in a sleepy old town near the town where I was raised.

Um, fried pickles are the best fried food in existence.  Sour, salty, crunchy, and creamy with a dab of ranch.

2013-08-28 09:25:30 AM
The nice soft ones at captain D's are best

2013-08-28 09:25:32 AM
Why does it matter? Eat all of the food!

I was going to say fried clams but conch sounds awesome.

Fatty thread?

I love fried food.
The best fried food though... would depend on the mood I was in. Sometimes it's just a delicious chicken tender. Though, chicken fried bacon sounds pretty tasty right now too.

/yep, I'm fat too.
//strangely not hungover though.

Hush puppies can be incredible, or terrible.  They should be good and sweet, with no farking onions or other crap in them.  The Sanitary Fish Market has unlimited hushpuppies with all meals, good stuff.

2013-08-28 09:26:35 AM
Deep fried shrimp, period. Curds are nasty.

Mad Scientist: What's wrong with french fries, you hipster doofesses?

Because about 99.9% of the time, they are undercooked and to make them appear cooked, sugar is added to brown them. Ugh.

There are occasional respites from the doughy mess usually peddled as french fries - try Art's Place in Kill Devil Hills, NC, for crunchy fries along with a cheeseburger and a beer.

/one of my favorite places, even if the owner is a biatch

Fried chicken and that isn't even debatable.

i like deep fried flavored water. you have to let the fryer oil get really really hot before you put in the water or it doesn't work right and pour the water in as quickly as you can.

Cedar Point has their cheese-on-a-stick.  It's a piece of cheese, on a stick, hand-dipped in cornbread batter and deep fried to artery clogging perfection.  Probably 60g of fat and 1,500 calories each but they're farking awesome.

When I was a kid my mom used to take me to Chesapeake Bay Seafood House to get all you can eat baby gulf shrimp. They used to give out a bowl of hush puppies before the meal. Since we were at a seafood place, I used to think that hush puppies were also seafood, like fried shrimp, so I would eat them with ketchup.

Culvers cheese curds dipped in ranch.

My kids would eat that every day if I let them.
