He definitely got my fantasy team off to a good start this week.

Every time I think the Orioles might turn a corner and make a playoff run...

Ummm, shouldn't it still be 2-2?

The pitching has been awful since the all-star break.  They should have at least 6 more wins than they do if the pitching was at the same level it was before the break or even late last year.

The fans out in left field made a couple of nice catches on those home runs.

It really hasn't been good all season long, it's just that it's been more noticeable since the break because the bats haven't been as hot.

Put into perspective, the Orioles' staff is currently 26th in MLB with a combined 4.32 ERA.  Only 10 clubs have ERAs above 4, and Baltimore is not only the lone team among them with a winning record, they're the only team that's better than 10 games below .500 with pitching that poor.  The pitching has actually been slightly better since the All Star Break, at 4.14.

I especially liked Victorino's picking up the ball after he got HBP and tossing it back to the pitcher....

like "here, I think you dropped this, dumbass" while giving him an awesome "WTF?" look

Not bad. Bit of a face on that one, though.

Like the time he yelled at the Dodgers' pitcher for throwing near his head, not his body. "Down there, not up here, you <whatever>!"

Depends on the metric you're using.

Total runs scored: Victorino 2, Orioles 2
Total runs driven in: Victorino 7, Orioles 2

You need people on to drive them in. Well, other than yourself at the plate.

I know that, but that wasn't the question you asked.

Are you trying to assert that your preferred metric of runs scored is superior to the joke in the headline? If you are, just say so, and don't be such a passive-aggressive nuge about it.

Technically, you don't.  For example, a runner at third who comes in on a wild pitch won't register an RBI.

I know you know that pfft.  Just pointing out that you can't say it was all him and when that score is still a team effort, which I assume is what subby meant by posting the score with just his name.

passive aggressive my ass.

Luxury tax. Because the contracts of Howard, Lee, Halladay, and Papelbon pretty much meant that the Phils had to tiptoe near the line last year. (And again this year, only with Hamels added into the mix with his new extension; there's a reason that the outfield and bullpen are pretty much all minor league callups or attempts at reclaiming broken-down veterans.)
