Yeah, I couldn't possibly picture Michael Caine saying anything like that in an interview. He just doesn't seem like a jerk that way, especially about a friend.

violentsalvation: "It's all bulls***, completely preposterous," Caine told The Mirror.

"I did some interviews over in Germany for a new film and I can only assume someone has twisted my words or got the wrong end of the stick.

"I haven't seen Sean for a couple of years, but my wife and I spoke to him on the phone on his birthday this week and he was very well.

"He was fine, in complete control of his senses and his usual self.

"This stuff about Alzheimer's is just nonsense. I have no idea where they are getting it from."

Yeah, I like the link to an article where Michael Caine slams bullshiat article in the actual bullshiat article.

Good find, submitard

Article is most likely bullshiat.  But if it is actually true this is really sad news.  I lost three grandparents to Alzheimer's and it's a really bad way to go.

"Bild said the loss of his memory is "noticeable" and that only a few close friends and confidantes, like Caine, had access to him."

Not much of a friend if goes and blabs it to the Daily Mail. I highly doubt there's any truth to this.

It would explain why every interview for the past decade seemed drunk.

He wasn't entirely in control of his senses when he gate-crashed Andy Murray's press conference after last year's US Open win.

The biggest thing out of the article for me was the realization that he hasn't made a movie in 10 years.

Well, if there is one person who would know about Daniel Dravot losing his head, it would be Peachy Carnehan.

He's 83 years old. A lot of old people stop working. Also it's not like he was making great movies.

Too bad it wasn't longer, it would mean he wasn't associated with LxG.

if it's true, he isn't the first actor to suffer from alzheimers.  if i remember correctly, both charles bronson and peter falk suffered from it at the end of their lives.  a terrible way for someone to go, especially someone in the public eye.

Michael Caine says his best friend is "no longer in control of his senses"

And if true, that would really mean something coming from Michael Caine.

2013-08-28 10:34:31 AM
The link to an article where Caine denies the story is right next to the story itself

So why would they continue to..

Ah, fark it.

The bad news is that Sean Connery has lost memory about his career. The good news is that Zardoz was part of that memory loss.

Anytime i hear of a celebrity voluntarily retiring from the biz, i get the gist that they know they are losing it, and want to do it out of the public eye.

I remember Johnny Carson was reportedly a mental blank slate not too long after quitting the Tonite Show.

And the fact that Connery didn't do Indiana Jones IV, even for a short cameo, is pretty telling.

Unfortunately, I don't have Old-Timer's disease yet, so I still remember Zardoz.
