(Atlanta Journal Constitution)   A 64-yr old green jacket, size 43L, is on sale. Oh yeah. Did I mention it was the first green jacket ever won during a little golf tournament in Augusta, GA, back in 1934?   (ajc.com) divider line 33

Since both women and "Negros" belong to Augusta National, I would imagine so.

That's not what TFA said. TFA said that the jacket was negative 15 years old when it was won in 1934.

TFA explains how although it was won in 1934, it wasn't awarded (and didn't exist) until 1949. The headline doesn't contradict this.

I dunno.  The wording is definitely questionable: "Did I mention it was the first green jacket ever won during a little golf tournament in Augusta, GA, back in 1934?"

The bolded parts are obviously the operative issue here.  Saying the green jacket was won "during" a golf tournament in 1934 implies that the jacket existed and was awarded in 1934, making it much older than 64.  It makes it sound like the tournament and the giving of the award happened at the same time.  Maybe re-wording to "...the green jacket awarded for the for a little golf tournament in Augusta, GA, back in 1934?" would at least break the implication that the award and the tournament happened simultaneously that we get in the current headline.

Just playing a little devil's advocate here.  I was confused enough to actually RTFA over that math.  I figured it couldn't be a typo since 64 would be really, really wrong (even by Fark headline standards).

43L??? Would probably fit Daly or Dufner. Possibly Mickelson.

/ Dufner and Mickelson are too busy wanking off to the Wannemaker Trophy and Claret Jug. So this could be a good add for Daly. Just as long as he doesn't drench it in that crappy Hooter's wing sauce.

It's clumsy as hell, I can agree with that - but it isn't saying anything incorrect.

John Daly? In a size 43 jacket? Maybe 100 pounds ago.

yup I wear a 54L myself.  And while I am 270 I am only about 6 feet tall.

But no membership?  I'd take that jacket and go to the final Sunday and do my best Chris Farley impression on national TV

43L would be pretty tight through the shoulders, but I could probably rock it. No one would ever mistake me for a professional golfer though unless I wore my authentic Payne Stewart mask.
