I wonder what skeletons Fox News has in their closet.  I wouldn't be surprised to find out they'd donated big bucks of Obama SuperPACs, being able to capitalize on the fear and rage from the right against Obama has probably been great for ratings.

Since PR is a huge part of what FOX is all about, I can only imagine what this guy could dish.  Ailes and co are playing a stupid and dangerous game if they are going to try and drag this guy through the mud.

"I have just been retained and am still plotting our course of action," Burstein said in the statement. "But two things are very clear to me. First, Brian Lewis no longer has any confidentiality obligation to Newscorp or Roger Ailes because of the false and malicious statements made by Fox to date. Second, Roger Ailes and Newscorp have a lot more to fear from Brian Lewis telling the truth about them than Brian Lewis has to fear from Roger Ailes and his toadies telling lies about Brian Lewis."

*yawn*

I watched Microsoft defend themselves in court until the other side declared bankruptcy. As much as I'd like to see it, I doubt this guy will be doing much damage to anything.

Consider their position. As you said, the guy is potentially dangerous but he's dangerous because of what he knows. So the first thing you do is discredit him.  And I'm sure they're thinking, "What's he going to do about it? He's bound by a NDA! LOL!"

Except:
Brian Lewis no longer has any confidentiality obligation to Newscorp or Roger Ailes because of the false and malicious statements made by Fox to date.

Brown trousers time.  I'd be willing to wager that a tidy sum of money silently makes its way into Mr. Lewis's bank account in the near future. And tomorrow everyone will be talking about the latest celebrity gossip. And this will all have been a dream.

it was "an honor and privilege to work for Roger Ailes the past 20 years."

I was all set to be on this guy's side and cheer him on, but that's just disgusting.  That's like being proud of having the highest number of guest appearances on To Catch a Predator.

I think it's an open secret that most of the right-wing media blowhards much prefer Obama in office vs Romney.  Obama makes them 10x the money than Romney would, and that's all these guys care about, they have no actual principles.

Lewis has said very little since the firing.

Except for what he's saying through his attorney. There's something here.

fox news could discredit gandhi, keep a straight face doing it, and the people that watch fox news would believe it. they could do it to anyone, except maybe jesus, because people that watch fox news farking love jesus, but... anyone else.  this guy will be a blip on the radar.

which i think is pretty unfortunate... i think roger ailes spending the rest of his life in gitmo for espionage would be a rare chance at actual justice, but that shiat just isnt going to happen.

I heard about something Beck did in 1990...

What could he possibly have? If it doesn't rise to the level of criminality then I doubt it would be much.

Does the boardroom control the newsroom and editorial content? I assume that they do. Nothing there.

I think you misread/misinterpreted the man's statement.  He's not talking about suing Fox News/Newscorp for defamation.  He's talking about blabbing his big fat mouth to everyone who will listen.

This is a guy who's spent years as Roger Ailes right hand man and button man.

Also, Mr. Lewis?

Do it.   Just do it you wimp.  Don't threaten to do it, JUST DO IT.

Meh. People have been telling the truth about Fox News for years, to no effect. Spoiler: Roger Ailes has a political agenda and coordinates his news coverage and opinion pieces with Republican talking points.

What does it matter anyway?  The people in the know wouldn't be surprised no matter what he alleges and the fox news people will never hear it because they don't hear anything outside that bubble.

Well maybe if it was alleged he was the dark lord himself instead of a demon, only because runmsfield, cheney and the like are out there.

This is a company that sued for the right to lie on the public airwaves and call it news and won. This dude was probably part of the team that led that charge. And now he thinks he's going to take them down with the 'truth'? You reap what you sow. Unfortunately, so do the infromed masses.

Nothing like calling out a wimp by posting a picture of a rainbow cartoon pony.

Better fire up the Harsh Word machine for the teletubbies.  Heard they needed a time out.

There is a difference between people spilling shiat about FOX and an attorney possibly bringing suit against a former client, with the concomitant breaking of privilege that that brings (assuming an analogue of ABA Rule 1.6(5) is in play).  I mean I assume everything with be filed under seal, but you never know what actual protectable stuff will dribble out.

This reminds me of someone who thinks they are in the closet but aren't, then coming out to suprise NO ONE.

That's what gets me.  If there was something really damning -- especially if criminal -- he's obligated to say something any way.

Although to the contrary, the left will believe anything he says, no matter what Fox's denials are.  It's the nature of political discourse nowadays -- anyone leaving one group is automatically credible when they start dishing dirt.

It doesn't matter.  The Foxtards will just say this guy is part of some liberal conspiracy and go right on reveling in their own proud ignorance.

They say that thieves think everyone steals. People who are smart think that everyone around them is competent. Given how utterly hardball Fox plays with everything, how often the firm misrepresents basic facts, and edits out its own mistakes without a drop of shame, the company is probably renting storage space for the skeletons because they're run out of closets.

Never threaten.  Occasionally make promises, and ensure that you keep them.

But farking do it.

he's just sabre rattling. I doubt he would be able to prove anything he might have on them. unless he's taken some emails or recorded some conversations. it's all hearsay until then and they'll countersue his pants off unless he has solid evidence to back up his assertions. this guy is just looking for a settlement.

Someone smart enough to know how the game is played, that much is evident.  That FOX should have long been stripped of the ability to call it's broadcasts "news" is also evident, but the supremes held that "we really like money".

It will all blow away in the wind when a pile of the appropriate currency lands in the right hands.

I would love to read a tell-all book from the trenches of the writers' rooms at Fox, where they make up the daily spin.
