What happened to Toure? Tracking the game on Eurosport, and apparently he's getting stretchered out.

QPR lost to something called Swindon Town? Ouch.

2013-08-27 04:56:32 PM
Reading got throttled 6-0. Goddamn.

Can't say no to six goals. I hope the mighty yellows keep this scoring run.

Plus Liverpool making Notts County look like a premier league team it's just priceless

ESPN Boot room people saying it looks like a groin injury

Jordan Henderson scores #4, after Sturridge had put the Reds up 1.  Hopefully that means game over.

Damage still done though. Forced to use first-team players AND Toure got hurt.

groin. didn't look good at all.

If Toure is seriously hurt, then I would think a deal for Mamadou Sakho or any of the other CBs we've been linked to (Alderweireld is another) is pretty much done. I'd prefer Andre Wisdom gets loaned out instead of just being a bench player and spot starter so he gets reps, and Skrtel just isn't the swift passing defender that fits Rodgers system, but we probably need him as insurance anyways.

any plonker who's still got anything bad to say about hendo, step up and take your hits like a man. that nutmeg and finish he put up was pure class.

Righto.  Now going to be linked to every CB in Europe.

Wow, Ruiz cutting it close there.

Killer Cars: If Toure is seriously hurt,

it's hard for me to believe he wouldn't be. he pulled up without any contact whatsoever, and once he went down, he didn't move. you don't not try to walk it off knowing you're going to put your team down to ten, unless you already know it ain't happening.

blessing in disguise. i didn't feel good without having any cover. no offense to the guy, because he's played his heart out since he's been here, but you can't expect to not have at least one significant injury on the back line at some point during the season.

Damn. I couldn't watch the game at work today (too busy with actual work, surprisingly) but anytime a player on the wrong side of 30 gets injured I tend to assume the worst with possible recovery times.

We sort of needed another CB anyway, but the urgency just went up tenfold.

i gotta ask, but how are the tags determined, and why did this thread wind up with a brett hull tag?

Get used to disappointment. The teams that are in Europe get a bye to the next round.

Who's ready for the Houston Dynamo vs. CD Arabe Unido?

Wait, did this headline not mean the CONCACAF Champions League? Am I the only one who watches that?

Looks like Man City and Borussia Dortmund will be the Pot 3 teams in the CL draw that everyone wants to avoid.

An obvious and disappointing draw. Man U vs Liverpool, coincidence?

Away to Southampton. Winnable but not world-on-fire stuff, is it?

2013-08-28 04:53:15 PM
well, liverpool draw the manchester-team-not-really-from-manchester in the league cup round three draw.

Basel and Olympiakos got the short straws in that group.

And Napoli from pot 4 as well. If they end up in the same group as Man City or Borussia Dortmund watch out.
