Sounds like he is trying to intentionally get run over.

Sometimes I want to shoot the face off people who stop in the road when they have the right of way.

Seriously, stopping a line of 10 cars behind you to allow one to turn in front of you is NOT being nice. When you have the right of way, take it. Otherwise you're asking for an accident.

Oh, and I'm willing to bet the guy in the article is mentally ill.

According to the police report for the incident, the victim left work around 8:15 p.m.to fill her car up at a nearby gas station in the 900 block of James Street when a man darted out of an alley and ran into traffic.

Never threaten someone with a weapon that produces 400 ft/lbs of energy when they've got one with 87,000 ft/lbs pointed at you.

Isn't, "Shut your mouth, or I'm going shoot your face off" just another way of saying, I love you?.

- don't slow down to let me onto the interstate, I have a plan to merge, thanks
- don't "wave me through" a 4 way when it's your turn, just follow the simple rules
- don't stop for me when I'm waiting at a crosswalk with the red stop hand, I can wait

Too many people seem to forget that there are people on the road other than them and the person they're "helping".

Dead for Tax Reasons: they have crosswalks at alleys now?

The one right outside my office has three. One parallel on each side for crossing the intersecting street and one perpendicular across the opening.

Not all alleys are tiny little passageways, some are heavily trafficked enough to justify crosswalks.

Meh. Still better than when the police do their crosswalk entrapment scheme.
Plainclothes officer gets in the crosswalk to make people stop so he can cross. Anyone who doesn't stop, or didn't quite notice him so to stop, gets one of a dozen police on motorcycles chasing them down for failure to stop at the crosswalk.

/Just charge the cop with impeding traffic flow(he keeps crossing back and forth with no intension of going anywhere on the other side) and entrapment problem solved

When motorists nearly hit a pedestrian and then wave to them to cross, the pedestrian is going to assume that they are going for a second attempt.

Soooo.... cops suck because you're a shiatty driver who doesn't pay attention to his surroundings?

I've noticed that, much like red light cameras, speeding tickets and all the terrible ways that Progressive car plug thingy could "screw" you unfairly that's a problem I never seem to have.

I wonder why so many other people have all these strange problems that I don't.... what could possibly be different?

Cars stopping for pedestrians in crosswalks (that don't have an associated red light) is totally stupid and backward. Of course that means it's the law in DC.

I love it when the cops do that - they should do it more, and the asshole lickers they catch should go to County for six months.
I hope the ticket cost you a lot, and your fat, ugly wife withheld "sex" from you that night.

I get annoyed when I'm crossing a parking lot or sidewalk and a car without nothing behind it stops to "let" me cross. I would just as easily wait  1.5 seconds for the car to pass. On side walks and alleys I usually walk behind the lead car, to let them go as well rather than making them wait for me to waddle across.

Hey, don't get me wrong, I wouldn't vote to convict based on these facts. She's obviously not telling us everything - why would someone say "shut your mouth" if all you did was wave? She probably said something to him, like "don't run out into the street, you farking retard, I almost hit you."
That makes me question how credible she is about the presence of the gun.

There is probably some salient fact that the incredibly well-written, in-depth Internet article neglected to mention - as wildly improbable as that may seem. Because I am pretty sure that they are not going to arrest some random guy for no reason but some lady's say-so.

Angry much? Where in my post did I whine about following rules? Or having police protecting against real criminals?

I just have no respect for any cop that actually thinks manning a speed trap or engaging in a crosswalk scheme, like described above, is doing real police work. All they're doing is collecting revenue for the state from otherwise law abiding citizens.

And for the record, in the 25 years I've been an adult I've only had three moving violations and have had no other criminal or misdemeanor charges against me. But you go on with your bad self and make all the uninformed assumptions about me that you like.

As a note, in Germany there is a strict traffic law that if you have the right of way, you *must* take it, and if you inappropriately yield your right of way and an accident results, you are substantially to blame.

That law is surprisingly easy to get used to.

Not always.

There's a thing called the Pittsburgh left, you use it at 4 way signalized intersections that don't have left arrows.

Instead of charging forward as soon as the light turns green, you wait a second and let the guy making the left clear the intersection freeing the lane up to move (until the next person needs to make a left)

It guarantees at least one person clears the intersection per cycle instead of the entire lane just sitting there.

Oh so very much this. I've gotten to the point that I just sit there and stare at them until they give up and go. Just to punish (er, I mean, train) them to follow right of way rules.

The same with parking lot stoppers. All they have to do is keep going and I can smoothly and efficiently walk behind their car as it passes. But no! They stop so I can walk in front of them so they can wait until the optimum moment to mash the gas pedal to the floor and SQUASH MEEEEEE!

It's really a battle of control freaks, daring each other to fold...

I'm pretty much OK with the crosswalk enforcement they do out here.  People get hit every year and sometimes it's bad.  Cars in a 25-35mph zone with crosswalks need to farking pay attention, because we all know the pedestrians can't manage to do so.

Old cities, narrow streets, 5' setbacks. You couldn't add a turn lane without leveling half the block.

You must be American. Where I live, nothing is more annoying than a ped who pauses before crossing. Crosswalks are sacred. Drivers lose their license on the spot if they hit someone.
