The Dollar Tree said they were cleaned out of all their registers and the safe, which means the thief will be laboring under dragging around $18.27 in loose change.

He would have made a better score if he had sold the ammo out of his pistol.  Prices are ridiculous right now.

Exactly, selling the gun used for the robbery would net more profit than the robbery itself.

Check the strip club

I'm trying to think of a place that's both more likely to have a shoddy video system, and less likely for the clerk to fight to defend the till.

I'm starting to see the logic here. I know where I'm heading, if I decide to live a life of crime.

That's just sad...

If one is going to begin a life as a stickup artist, you just don't start your career by waltzing into your nearest bank. You have to start small. I once asked a wise man, "How do you get to Wall Street?" He replied, "Practice."

It's also likely to be one of the lowest staffed retail stores out there, in a shady neighborhood at the dark end of a strip mall, and deals in lots of cash transactions. Seems like an easy target, absolutely.

Deploy the armored car and the SWAT team!
Order more donuts!

This is turning from an "if I decide to live a life of crime" decision to an "I need to make some virtually risk-free cash over my lunch break" one.

Nah, price and availability are both getting better if you know where to look.

They have good pickles at the Dollar Tree. And those little pre-made pizza crusts aren't bad either. Can't go wrong for a buck.

My problem with dollar stores nowadays...  Nothing costs a dollar in there any more.  My daughter loves the dollar store, so I find myself in there once a week or so.  Every damn thing is marked, $1.50 or higher.

What's the world coming to?

at dollar tree?

rarely i've seen larger/more expensive items that did indeed cost more than $1 (like some peel & stick floor tiles...think they were $1 each tile for a box of however many tiles)

often i see things like candy, cheaper canned items, etc marked 2 for $1, 3 for $1, etc

i always like dollar tree for when i'm low on cash but need to buy things for a kid...you can spend $10 on coloring books, crayons, toys, etc, and really load up! my first christmas with my wife, her daughter was 7 and we had very little money, but i said the kid needs a full stocking from santa...filled that thing up on dollar tree items, she was happy as could be!

He probably didn't want to get all dressed up to rob a Walmart.

Yeah. I remember a place in Orlando that had a huge sign saying "EVERYTHING'S A DOLLAR and up".

I guess that 'grand theft' charges are out of the question.
