from TFA: 'The numbers are staggering and the prospects are absolutely scary as a massive California wildfire menaces Yosemite National Park. '

If only there were something they could have done to lessen the threat.

"Yosemite wildfire grows, threatens reservoir, power station"

The water doesn't burn, but the 80s styling products in the hair of the Taylor boys will go up in an instant.

Well, there's a handy geyser, but it isn't very, uh, what would you call it?  Faithful?  Reliable.  That's it.

I used to work (and live) in Yosemite - believe me, they are pulling whatever they can out of Hetch Hetchy to fight the Rim fire.

This story is driving me farking crazy. Every news outlet in the world is calling this a "rim fire" but farking NONE of them explain what a rim fire is and how it's different from every other wildfire reported in the past. Search and you only find info on rim fire ammunition.

Sometimes it's painfully obvious that all the firetrucks that make the national media are really hooked up to just one tiny spigot on the side of the house. farking unthinking echo chamber.

Pretty sure that's the name given to the fire, like the really bad one last year outside of Colorado Springs was the "Waldo Canyon Fire"

That sounds reasonable but if that's the case is there an area named "rim" there?

Why not the yosimete fire? That site lists the origin as Stanislaus nf, why not the stanislaus fire? Where the hell did rim come from and how did everyone agree on it without knowing how it relates?
