Shocking.

I thought the 5's unsubsidized price was $500 - $750? If this means someone can get a iPhone for $50 - $100 with a contract that's exactly what people have said when they were talking cheap, not the unsubsidized price the article only mentions.

/please correct me if I am wrong

yeah but 400$ off contract is a pretty big deal. Especially for those on Verizon with their unlimited plans still in tact who need to buy a phone that way.

Most good smartphones go for around $600-800 off contract. The exception of course is the Nexus 4 which is $300.

This guy might be right, but the trick here is how are they going to jog the specs? Sure anyone can make a $400 phone. You just have to cut processor, ram, storage, display etc. I am guessing that this one will not be up to normal iPhone standards at $400.

unlocked iphone that's basically an iphone 5 in a plastic shell for a Nexus 4-comparable $300 off-contract price? good idea

"cheap" iphone that's still going to cost $100 on contract? fuhgetaboutit

I'm tired of buying my phones at Walmart, I want to buy them at Dollar General.
