Until we have a Mexican president in the mix, this is still racist.  Maybe throw in an Asian prime minister too.

I don't see it as racist.  Unless the clown was doing stereotypical black things, they are making fun of the president, who happens to be black.

I think they may be sensitive to the race issue, which is why they added the other presidents.  Of course, that may just be a fig leaf.

Here here.  How bout an eskimo clown too?

Someone's really trying to make a point.  I have no idea what that point is, but the effort is notable.

How is it racist? There's a mask for every President going back to at least Nixon. But because Obama's black his mask is racist? Don't get me wrnog, there's plenty of racism surrounding Obama but I don't see it here.

The White House could have just laughed this off like grown ups. Instead they made it a big deal.

Can't blame the guy for cashing the paycheck

I hope hill dog doesn't get elected or all these poor clowns will be labelled sexists

I haven't really followed this closely but the White House commented on it?  I thought it was the media and NAACP that make all the ruckus.

Is he wearing black face? Any examples of racial jokes?

Oh, it's just an Obama mask and he's making fun of a President. Why that's as American as apple pie.

Racism exists. It's just not around EVERY corner.

Do you have a link to the White House response regarding this occurrence?

They made such a huge deal about it by not saying a single word.

Further proof that no matter what he says, does, doesn't say, or doesn't do, "independents" will blame him. Bush derangement syndrome ain't got nothing on Obama derangement syndrome.

EvilEgg: Unless the clown was doing stereotypical black things

IIRC the guy was flapping the lips on his mask up and down. That, and the announcer whipping up the crowd with "wanna see Obama get trampled by a bull?" Sounds pretty racist to me. Not that racists at a goddamn rodeo is exactly news.

2013-08-27 09:57:16 AM
This guy's been adopted by the tea party hospitality committee, huh?  Hope he doesn't blow all of his first few paychecks on drugs and alcohol, they're likely to dump him the minute the novelty wears off and that was like three weeks ago.

he's lying of course

2013-08-27 09:58:26 AM
I wonder which one the announcer will ask the audience they want to see trampled by a bull?

2013-08-27 09:58:55 AM
Good for him, the clown.  He got railroaded out of MO.  His act was no more racist than when the mask was a different president.

2013-08-27 10:01:04 AM
Somebody having fun at the president's expense? Big deal. Who cares? Didn't see the video and I'd guess it was probably pretty tasteless, but hey, it's a free country.

That being said, I'd like to know what these chuckleheads were saying about the Dixie Chicks when they exercised their right to free speech?

White House: President Has No Reaction To Rodeo Clown Wearing Obama Mask

That's raci... Actually, no, I have no problem with this.

Fun fact:  Cowboys were mostly black.

How will an Obama clown be received in the Lone Star State?

I can only imagine.

/Will he still have that broom up his butt?

2013-08-27 10:02:48 AM
Doing it with other Presidents is fine. Doing it with one seems creepily stupid. Politicizing everything and anything because of your dumb Tea 'tard shiat is still stupid though.

Traditionally things like this play out and end up with Texas asking for funds to bail them out of something and being turned down with a smile.

It wasn't racist in the first place. What it was was pathetic and embarassing to hear a crowd of what, hundreds, chanting about how they'd like to see the President murdered by bulls.

These hicks take great pleasure in their belief that they are offending leftist elitist liebrals from the north and the west coast. What harm does it do, imagine how good you would make all those hillbilly white trash feel if you went and picketed the obama clown rodeo.

That's true, and it's the reason that right-wing blogs were crowing about "liberal outrage" over a clown when there wasn't any.

Sorry, hicks. People calling you douchebags isn't "outrage".

Animals are terribly abused at rodeos. Will someone please think of the animals.

Did they even make much of a ruckus? The place I've heard about this the most is from conservative acquaintances linking to conservative blogs angry that some people might have a problem when you suggest running over the President with a bull.

Yeah, it was more a deranged hatred of all politicians who have a D next to their name.

"Obama will be joined at the event by three other presidents. "

Nixon, Reagan, and Bush II I'm sure.

FTFA:  Mesquite Arena general manager Steve Gander told Unfair Park via email that the rodeo is not simply trying to troll liberals, who have an innate and universal hatred of rodeos.

You keep telling yourself that, Jethro. You probably don't think we're armed either.

Jeez, conservatives are pussies.

I see a lot of people who viewed it as racist but none of what they were describing was really overtly racist. He was a clown with an Obama mask. Acting clownish is his job, he's supposed to act stupid and make people laugh. It's also not surprising that people wanted to see him get hurt, that's sort of what people always want to see happen. It's like crowds enjoying watching a wreck in nascar, that possibility of danger is what makes it exciting. If they really have done this with president's masks for years then I just don't see the big deal.

Stereotypical, like flapping his lips?

It's almost as if these people are incapable of learning.  And since when has it been a "thing" to have a president as a rodeo clown?

Yeah. The whole "let's flap his lips!" was surely something that would be done to a white president.

"I can tell you as a native Missourian, it was certainly not one of the finer moments for our state, and not the way I like to see our state depicted in the news."

-White House spokesman Josh Earnest

Since I like you I won't ask for a research fee.

Mr. Earnest could have just played it off and went on to the next question but he just couldn't. He showed that it affected him.
