Could be good. Don't care for her Comedy Central show but on roasts and podcasts, she's funny.

BTW, saw Chapelle at the Oddball festival Saturday. He's rusty as hell. Spent a lot of the show doing awkward pauses, didn't finish his jokes, and the ones he did were dated. Jokes about Brokeback Mountain and that Olympian that killed his girlfriend (or wife. Can't remember). Spent a lot of time biatching about all that money he passed up on.

"Can't feed your kids on integrity sandwiches" were the types of jokes about it.

I don't remember Dave Chappelle's CC show being entirely about his vagina.

I like Amy Schumer's standup and I'm not ashamed to admit it.

I don't know anything about her. Is she good?  Are we fans?

Nick Cannon?

She's funny, her show sucks.

I heard her do an NPR interview with Terry Gross, and at some point Terry talks about her bit about sexting and asks Amy, "Have you ever sexted?"  And Amy immediately comes back with "Oh, of course; have you Terry?"  I totally lost it, sitting there in the car, as Terry Gross sputtered her way past that one.

If you like  paraprosdokian humor, then yes, she is good. It has it's place, and I usually enjoy it.

I thought she was more the female version of Anthony Jeselnik.

I love Amy Schumer but don't even go there with "white female version of Dave Chappelle"

the three best reasons to see Comedy Central's Roast for Charlie Sheen were Schumer, Jeselnick, and Patrice O'Neal.

She always delivers a pretty solid set, whether you like her comedy or not.

Like most sketch shows, hers is uneven. There have been some truly LOL episodes. Much better on average than SNL, anyhow.

Start with the ep where she organizes a gangbang if you're curious, that had several good ones in it.

So, I take it that Fark doesn't hate her yet?

Sounds like when Terry asks Jay-Z, "So, wait, how do you just, like, start selling crack?"

Mixed feelings about her show and haven't seen a lot of her stand up but she's always a riot on O&A.

In the sense that both of their shows are unwatchable? I could see that.

I love the comedy nerd fight in TFA comments. As for Amy, she's funny and seems like she enjoys sex. 2 of the 1 things I need in a woman.

Good!  For the record, I'd like to say that I hate her now so, inevitably, when the tide turns against her, I'll be Mayor "Before it was Cool" of Hipstertown.

How did the hipster burn his mouth? He was drinking coffee *before* it was cool.

How many hipsters does it take to change a lightbulb? It's an obscure little number, you've probably never heard of it.

Came here to say this.

She is fine in small bits, like the roasts, but she cannot carry a whole show.

The show is so bad it makes me miss the Sarah Silverman show.

Apatow wouldn't hire Tosh for anything. He goyim.

Amy Schumer does a passable impersonation of a mildly funny male comic.

I'd like to be inside Amy Schumer if you know what I mean, and I think you do

Nick Cannon's hiLARious.

I'm kind of on the fence about her.  Some of her stuff is fall down funny, but I always watch her and think "it's an act"....I know all comedians are doing "acts", but her delivery is just so rote and mechanical as to be noticeable...Of course Apatow doesn't do many clunkers, so I'll reserve judgement.

/Jeselnik sucks a big bag of monkey cock!  I hate that farking guy.

Whoa whoa, she's just OK. Her show is inconsistent, her standup is sometimes very funny. But the female version of Chappelle? Uh, no.

She uses that line of jokes as sort of bait and switch shock humor, but she does have material outside of that.  Even if she didn't, Andrew Dice Clay played Madison Square Garden with dirty nursery rhymes and jokes that began with 'So this broad is sucking my dick/So I'm farking this chick'.

Her timing and delivery is better than most female comics.  Haven't seen her TV show however, so maybe that blows.  But her sense of humor seems to be in line with Apatow's, so I can see this working well.

She's made me laugh, but she annoys me in that she's only the latest in the series of female comics whose whole shtick is being attractive and saying dirty things.  Between her, Tosh and Jeselnik, it seems Comedy Central is being taken over by a Nazi comedy troupe.

/I know Shumer's Jewish, you know what I mean

She's great at the roasts, but her stand-up is weak.  Chapelle's strength is his stand-up.

No comparison.

Am I close?

Nope, not anywhere close to Chappelle. If that was the case, frat boys would be running around and quoting her ad nauseum until she was totally unfunny.

/I'm glad we as a society have moved past constant Rick James references
//great show otherwise....the R. Kelly parody was my favorite

I'm not saying she's not funny but like a lot of female comedians, she just comes across as trying too hard. At least she does on her show, which admittedly I've only seen two episodes of. I'm not expecting George Carlin but you like it in the ass from black guys, we get it. Her humor is perfect for the roasts though.

But I have respect for anyone who has the balls to do stand up at all.

2013-08-28 08:37:27 AM
It's not like I don't like her comedy, it's that I do not like most female comics. They follow the same pattern: they say something, then the punchline is some small comment under their breath. Rinse and repeat.

I do think that she's far better than most other female comics...but not good enough that I would ever pay to see her live.
