Roughly 80 percent of the erroneous option-market contracts traded on NYSE Euronext's two option platforms NYSE Arca Options and NYSE Amex options were cancelled, according to a second source close to the situation.

it must be nice - mess up your HFT algorithms and you get a do-over on most of the trades.

Wah.  If there is any justice the loss comes directly out of the bonuses of the idiots that screwed up (along with their bosses).

You are technically correct (which is better than fundamentally correct), but it's in there by reference at 1:43 and explicitly at 2:02. Along with BATS IPO, the Knight Capital implosion, and even the CEOE shutdown.

/not mine, but whoever wrote it up was farking brilliant.

Derp. CBOE. Can I break the trade on the "Add Comment" button because I didn't hit "Preview" first? What's good for Goldman is good for America!

It cost them tens of millions of dollars AFTER they cancelled billions of dollars in trade?  From the Wall Street Urinal:  People familiar with the matter last week estimated that Goldman's losses could have reached hundreds of millions of dollars.

Does this lend an illusion that the financial markets are rigged?

/That's a street light, not an illusion.

Whenever I lose at roulette the house always gives ME a do-over... They don't extend the same courtesy to you?

Remember kids, the stock market isn't gambling.

/When gambling, the house has a chance of losing.

What are the odds that Goldman recoups all its losses from the debacle - between insurance, the software company and the Government (Sachs) I'm thinking that they're not going to lose a dime.
