If only there was a way he could change the law and decriminalize it.

I knew it was a Democrat before I even clicked. If the headline said something about homosexual rape in a mens room, it would have been a Republican. These guys are getting too predictable.

Nothing wrong with pot.  They need to change the laws there if people are getting arrested for possession.  Ridiculous laws.

Decriminalize it.

 or better, legalize.

"I made a serious mistake, I apologize for it, and I am prepared to face the consequences of my behavior. I want to stress that I was not operating under the influence," LaFaver, 33, said in a statement Sunday night. "I want to assure my constituents that I have received no special considerations, nor do I expect to be treated any differently than any other citizen in my situation."
On Monday, the freshman lawmaker announced plans to resign as chairman of of the Missouri House Democratic Victory Committee, a group that raises money for Democratic candidates seeking representative seats.
"The goal of electing Democrats to the House is too important to the middle class men and women of Missouri for my personal embarrassment to become a distraction, and I have therefore asked the Minority Leader to let me step down from the chairmanship," LaFaver said.

Jaysus! The guy took it like a man. I'd vote for this dude based just on his response to what is not really a crime in any sense other than some archane piece of crap law that goes back to the 20-30s as a scam to send Mess'kins home...oh , and boost the prison population(free labor!) aimed at Negros. Hmmm

I'd vote for him as long as he had the chronic Ganga and not some Route 173 Dirtweed.
Judgment is important in an elected official.

So? He's a member of the Democrat party. This is a gold star in their book, the sort of thing they look for in their 'leaders'.

Sadly a bunch of the American people feel the same way. I mean look at it, we had Mitt Romney, one of the most successful entrepreneurs ever, a man with the organizational skills needed to save the Olympics from the socialist undermining which almost ruined them... And then on the other side of the ballot we had 0vomit who has as his biggest achievement keeping an illegal drug gang, the notorious Choom Gang, in Hawaii afloat.

farking sheeple. wake up.

"Retarded Colored Animal" eh? Some sort of black cat, perhaps? A gato negro, if you will...

You know, if more lawmakers smoked pot, I think we'd have a more effective government.  Maybe if the tea party caucus could get together, pass the bong around, chill out, and realize that hating on gays, women, and minorities isn't cool.  They could jam out to some early Floyd, chow down on some grub, and maybe go home and get a little freaky with their SO's.  When they came back they'd be much more relaxed and tolerant I'd suspect.

Yeah, but I wasn't trolling you, per se. I regard it more as satire. Baiting the conservatives to come out and agree with me when I say the sort of stupid shiat they say on freerepublic. Threads get really amusing when they start agreeing with me.

You need to re-think this particular shtick. You're not very good at ... whatever it is you're trying to do. But it's transparent and dumb.

"Rep. Jeremy LaFaver, D-Kansas City, was pulled over in Boone County at around 3 p.m. Sunday because he had failed to respond to an earlier traffic-related citation, according to a statement from Lafaver that is consistent with information from the state Highway Patrol."

If you're going to drive around with your weed, don't give them a valid reason to pull you over.

Or live in a state that it's no longer illegal in.

/I do both just to be on the safe side.

"LaFaver has broken trust with the people by behaving with direct and open disrespect for the law and courts," said Missouri GOP spokesman Matt Wills.

Shut up, you hypocritical parasite.

Hey, f*ck you, subby, and f*ck everyone in this thread making fun of the guy's jacket.  Yeah, I said it.  That sh*t would've rocked the place at a BossTones show back in the day.

I seriously considered having a go, just for kicks.  But at the end of the day...yeah.  The f*cking sheeple was just too much, considering the "points raised" and overall topic at hand.

I just wish he'd said something more meaningful, like "Hey Oklahoma, I got caught and will pay the penalty, but I really think it's time we had an adult conversation about marijuana."

Oklahoma somehow equals Missouri. Marijuana.

Why is this surprising to anybody?  You know as well as I do that a not insignificant proportion of those in power, those with the power to change the law and those with the power to enforce it, do all sorts of things that are illegal but shouldn't be.  It's fine when the little people's lives are ruined for pointless reasons, and it's fine when their political and ideological opponents get caught up in it.  Sure, some will always manage to sneak about without being seen, but eventually, an embarrassingly large number of people get caught.  So, instead of using this bullpoopie as a political bargaining blackmail chip, do what's right, and strike the stupid laws from the books.  It's going to happen anyway, stop kicking and screaming and doing your best to drag the country you claim to love and the people you claim to serve, protect and represent into the dark ages.

2013-08-26 10:59:25 PM
Rep. Jeremy LaFaver, a Kansas City Democrat, was driving westbound when he was pulled over just west of the Midway exit. Troopers had been alerted to his vehicle by an automated license plate scanner that linked the vehicle and LaFaver to unpaid tickets from Moniteau County, said Sgt. Paul Reinsch, spokesman for the patrol's Troop F.

LaFaver's warrants from Moniteau County were issued in May, when he failed to appear for a court hearing on two tickets. LaFaver was cited in April for failure to register his vehicle and not having proof of insurance.
