Taking a big risk, but predicting a Chelsea win today. Manchester is comfortable at home, and Old Trafford must feel like a fortress, but I think that Mourinho will be do everything he can to make this a statement game. Moyes will want to win to shut Mou up, and we'll see if he overplays it.

United lineup:  De Gea, Jones, Ferdinand, Vidic, Evra, Carrick, Cleverley, Valencia, Welbeck, Rooney, Van Persie
Chelsea lineup: Cech; Ivanovic, Cahill, Terry, Cole; Lampard, Ramires; Oscar; De Bruyne, Hazard, Schurrle (No Torres. Interesting)

Looks like Mou will keep United's defenders on their toes with no specific focal point of their attack.

I have Chelsea winning this as well.  Good to see Rooney starting, but I still don't understand not having Kagawa start.  Hopefully we see a good game.

In the FFPL, I originally had this as a 3-2 Utd win but I just changed it to a 2-2 draw. I think the teams look fairly even and Man City's failure yesterday at Cardiff puts a little extra pressure on both teams tonight.

Got this one as a 3-2 ManU win, mostly due to seething hate for Mou, although with ManU's insulting bids to Everton, I'd be happy if they drew.

2013-08-26 02:34:34 PM
if i was in the ffpl, i would have chel$ki to win 3-2. i love that moyes is already making excuses and a request to "please be patient". ex-blue nose and now manc? is it wrong if i just wish he strokes out right in the middle of a match?

/don't really wish he has a stroke
//well, maybe i do a little
//ok, ok, really i don't. much.

and on a side note, i will be out of town with no access to electricity for 8 days starting next saturday. i am not happy that i will be missing the lfc v manu match. anyone want to record the match and mail me the dvd? i'll pay you. seriously.

I have it 1-1

Amazingly defensive line-up from Chelsea it seems.  No Torres, Moses or Demba Ba.  Ruiz and Mata also left off.  Going to stay with my prediction, but geez.

There's something quite appropriate about Rooney being stuck with United, and Suarez with Liverpool. That's not intended to be a compliment to any of the four parties.

Me three.

I remember saying Mourinho probably hated Mata if he didn't play him at all against Hull. Well, now he won't even play him against Man U, so the argument of resting him kind of falls flat, especially since he got subbed out of the Villa match, which would make you think meant he'd play the next match on the starting XI.

Oh goddammit. Ancelotti picked Diego Lopez again on Real Madrid's goal. This is starting to piss me off.

Why is he picking Lopez?

No goddamn idea. He's just unsettling Casillas and making enemies of every friend of Casillas, meaning every player that's spent more than a couple years at the club. He had the gall to sub him out for the Raul game, which was a real slap in the face.

Hoping for a 1-1 draw to get a few points from this miserable start of a FFPL season.

2-2

BTW, for some goddamn reason, Madrid's away kit looks just like Chelsea's home kit now. What was wrong with black, or the purple they used back in the 90's, except not printing new kit purchase money for being wildly different from the old kit?

How's that not a card for Cole?

God damn you farking Microsoft. I fire up the xbox to watch the game with 10 minutes to spare and it says i have to spend half an hour updating the farking thing before i can do anything.

The only thing that would cheer me up is Ashley Cole and Terry knocking each other out going for a header

Rooney and Terry could snap their ankles going for a header.

Based on play alone from last season Lopez deserves to start, casillas was havin a poor season, and Lopez did great when he stepped in. Maybe casillas has been iffy in training as well lately

Maybe Terry could punch Rooney like the girl he is then Rooney chinning the fecker?

I'm hoping that the "mystery bid" for Bale that the Beeb is reporting is a trade for Rooney and Nani, straight swap.

BTW, disappointed no Zaha today. He has looked like a great acquisition every time I've watched him play.

I might go to the gym at half time, this game is so boring.  Also I don't want to see United lose in the last second.

Completely off-topic, but do you think Arsenal has any chance to pick up Di Maria?

I'd think that RvP and Hazard would be worse for both.

I wish they did, it'd help clean up that midfield logjam. Di Maria's said he wants to stay, but with Isco and Ozil being so great when paired together, I don't see it happening.

They'd never find each other. I went with the more probable option.

I have this as 1-1. Think I might have overalls the pulsating high scoring nature there.

Man, I should've expected Mourinho to pick the most goddamn boring football imaginable. Why did I expect a 3-2 game...

Both teams playing carefully. Nobody wants to make the first mistake.

Valencia's going to be carded soon. He's playing a bit too loose. Dangerous.

Random question: when a ball goes into the stands in EPL, is it considered good form for the fans to send it back, or does it get to become a souvenir like the balls/pucks in other sports?

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH~! Unless they're willing to pay Rooney £250K/week, I doubt Rooney's going to S***s. And no CL?!  Yeah, no, that ain't happening.

1-0 on the Madrid game. Benzema the scorer. I still don't know how Arsenal even dreams of getting him. He's the only experienced striker Madrid has. Jese and Morata are youngsters, Ronaldo tried and failed to play the '9' role in the preseason.

It almost always comes back. Not necessarily straight away. There are multiple balls around the edge to replace any that are delayed quickly.

Fark no. If they haven't bought him when he was delirious with desire to join, they sure as hell won't do it now. Madrid isn't exactly keen on doing late purchases.
