Oh, won't somebody PLEASE think of the porn stars?

Obamacare will take down porn tube sites and force people to go back to sex shops?

2013-08-26 11:14:55 AM
Yeah. That'll shut down the fundie derp squad's anti-Obamacare obsession for sure!

It's not HIV but full blown AIDS!

It's always nice to look at the bright side when someone tests positive for HIV.

It's never too early to protect a national industry.

Not sure if I know the performer the article refers to.  And not gonna google her name while I'm at work.

Did the article about SOPA coming back to life get pulled?

So the argument is just that Obamacare will make it easier for her to get treatment for her AIDS?  I don't really see that as an industry-saving move unless it can better guarantee that future performers won't get AIDS.

I would have gone with federal firefighters now having access to affordable insurance plans but we can certainly go with porn stars.

I think the solution requires more than a medical safety net although that's certainly part of the solution.

They need a safer environment in which to work. Condoms are terrific for two handsy teens in the back of an Impala but not a practical solution for the porn stars.

They're often working 10 and 12 hour days. That's a lot of chafing and will inevitably create weaknesses within the condom.

They need minimum safeguards that require all performers and supporting cast to undergo a myriad of tests at various stages prior to filming, during filming, and after filming for x amount of time. They also need methods for guaranteeing that all negatives remain negative through the duration of the filming. I'm not sure if the solution is a contractual regulation of sex off set... But something akin to deterring unprotected sex with others during filming would be ideal.

They need to buy some of those extra strength 24 hour condoms.

I was under the impression that they already had a pretty decent system set up for that, at least for the mainstream producers.  Your mom's amateur gangbang site might not be quite as scrutinizing.

I think there are state run systems perhaps based on federal legislation. However, I know that states vary on the types of safeguards available.

They aren't wearing the same condom for 10 to 12 hours.

They aren't even farking for 10 to 12 hours. Like all movie sets, they're sitting around a lot. Waiting for makeup, waiting for lighting, waiting for other scenes to shoot, etc, etc.

Most pornos are also shot in a single day, so getting infected by non-coworkers in the middle of a production is unlikely.

I'm sure that a lot of porn is shot in a day. Not all. It depends on the scope and budget. A lot of the larger budget porn is shot across multiple days and may require multiple locations.

Well...I would have.  Before.

Adult FYI (do I really have to tell you this is NSFW) has been blowing up over this and other things in the last few months.  On the one hand, some of what's been posted on there has lined up so far.  On the other hand, the site used to be a good place to find out stuff before AVN would post it, but since about January, has existed mainly as the mouthpiece of this guy who, when he's not losing his shiat over stuff like this, trash talks other people in the business on his radio show and claimed that Scientology saved his life and has given him knowledge and power.

Needless to say, a lot of what I've read on that site since then has been taken with a grain of salt roughly about the size of the boulder from Raiders of the Lost Ark.

The reality is that IRL, Flanders types generally see an HIV positive porn star as having been punished by god for being a whore.

HAHAH AHAHAH HAHAH AHAHA HAHAHH HAHAHH AHHAHAHAHA HAHAHAHA

Thanks for your compassionate opinion.  The reality is that insisting on a condom in porn means you will mostly NOT work, unless you are one of a handful of super stars.  And women have a higher chance of contracting HIV from a man during unprotected intercourse (to say nothing of being soaked in cum), than vice versa.  So, while we all like porn, it HAS TO change or this will keep happening.

2013-08-26 02:29:24 PM
Yes, because porn stars are a vital and vigorous constituency whom politicians ignore at their electoral peril.
