Changed the tag this week...it was 23 years ago tomorrow that he left us. I never did get to see him and have two tickets to the Panhandle Plains Fair from October 1990 where I was FINALLY going to see him play. I have left instructions that one be place with my mortal remains...just in case.

I saw Stevie Ray 5 times.
1986 at the Sanctuary concert at McKale Center. He opened for Don Henley, Jackson Brown and Stevie Nicks.
1986 Community Center Tucson.
Then 1987 at the Celebrity theater in Phoenix. Gregg Allman band opened for him.
Then 1988 at the Tucson music hall. Full set.
Last time I saw him was May 23, 1989, Tucson Community Center. He played Riviera Paradise as the encore.

Good show here Stevie Ray Vaughan - Lorelei Aug 25,1984

couldn't stand the weather is a great song; living in austin we still get to hear quite a bit of SRV on the radio.

Stevie was a true phenomenon.  His passion through the guitar is unrivaled in music.  No one had the soul he did.  Gone way too early.  I was just 3 years old when he died, but his music hits me every time he plays.  Good pick.

Heh, I'm in Louisville this week and will be visiting a bar called Stevie Rays. Saw a great blues band there a long time ago called the Jimmy Davis band. :)

Caught him at Lake Compounce shortly before he passed. I wish I could say it was a great and memorable evening, but you get enough drunk a-holes on the 4th of July and you just split early w/ your girl before you both become a part of it. I seem to recall the newspapers the next day suggesting we probably made a wise move.
