So we've taken to using all of Arizona's QB cast offs? Really? Arizona. Really. Oh god.

Is the season over yet?

The worst thing is he's probably the best option... Not a lot on the market right now.

Also, you're in a good position to be Clownin' for Clowney.

It's like Suck for Luck but WAY less upside.

Here's an idea:  How about the front office ponies up some dough for a criminal defense team to get O.J. paroled early?  Then they could have a somewhat plausible option for the offense this year.

If you think about it, it kinda makes just as much, if not more sense than signing Matt Leinart.

So ... we are going to repeat history and toss in a rookie to start at QB. Has anyone considered that the reason we are in this mess is because no one takes the time to groom a quarterback?

Yeah, here's what I don't get. We traded one mediocre backup QB for a slightly more mediocre backup QB. Yep, time to panic!

How many end up on the scrap heap of suck compared to how many are NFL ready from day 1?

And I really do expect RGIII and Wilson to regress slightly this year as defenses will have had a whole year of tape on them.

You can say the exact same thing about rookies at nearly any position. How many mike linebackers have they picked that have failed? And yet I don't hear anyone screaming about how we shouldn't be starting Kiko. Or Stephon Gilmore last year. Or Cordy Glenn last year

Yeah, Joe Flacco and Matt Ryan really bombed too. And they had such promise - if only they had been held out a year.

Yes, that is true- about all positions. I've long thought of QB as the more difficult position for many reasons.

Honestly its a toss up, though this year the east is weaker than normal, and again its not like the bills had a ton of options in the off season to shore up QB. I mean look at the raiders with Flynn, or the vikings with christian ponder.

There are some really good qbs playing right now, but there are also some really awful ones. I mean Carson Palmer is the starter for the cardinals for god sake.

I can't argue with any of that. And cameroncrazy1984, it drives me crazy that the Patriots are still on top of the division and nothing would please me more than to see Buffalo knock em off. I want to be excited, I've just come to see the organization as no longer trying.

Are the titans so poor they can't even find a helmet to fit that homeless guy?

I just hope the bills stick with lienart and don't go full retard and pick up Colt McCoy or Senecca Wallace. Maybe the hawks will send Brady Quinn packing and the bills can have the great white hope playing.

Ben Roethlisberger was a flop after starting his rookie year - only a few games on the bench to learn!

Ah, but part of being NFL ready now/sooner rather than later/never is not being an immature assclown.  Leinart's near Leaf-like underachieving is his own doing.

We all would like the patriots to have to actually compete in the division this year. I have hope Manuel will recover, Spiller won't be too mentally farked up by his step grandfather going on a shooting spree and a bills receiver will catch the ball every other pass.

Though having watched the vikings vs the niners holy shiat the vikings have a terrible qb, if AP does not repeat his performance from last year they'll be lucky to win 4 games.

One less QB the Jets can try out now. But then a player would be wise to avoid the Jets this season.

And I've seen nothing of EJ's character that tells me he's not ready. The receivers all say he makes the right decisions, the players say he has command of the huddle. He hasn't looked lost. If there are any broken plays in the preseason he hasn't lost his cool. He can run the no-huddle offense. He can make all of the throws. Why NOT start him?

Eh, I used to think that Leinart was going to be a good QB in the NFL, along the lines of Schaub.  A guy who is dependable and doesn't do too many stupid things.  But, people forget he had Ken "Who is My QB This Week?  I Don't Know!" Whisenhunt as his coach, and I'm pretty sure that Whis, with his constant belittling, nagging, and uncertainty, wore Leinart down from Could Be A Decent QB to Eternal Emergency Backup.

The fact that he has stuck around this long shows that he has something to offer for coaches.

\Would still take a few backup QBs over him to start: Hass, Fitzpatrick, Foles

2013-08-26 10:24:48 AM
We are getting ahead of ourselves. Buffalo has one more preseason game in which to injure Leinart, and then sign Tony Romo.

2013-08-26 10:45:43 AM
Look at it this way: there are only 50-60 guys in the entire country who can play the quarterback position better than Leinart.

The problem is that those guys are also NFL quarterbacks.

/Except for the ones who are still in college.

Yeah, good call. To be fair, the link I attached is four years old and I don't think there's been too much reporting about Leinart partying or slacking off much since then so he could very well have gotten the message and grew up.

The first string defense giving up 16 points in a half with 4 turnovers despite Wilfork not playing actually made me optimistic.

The Pats have usually won the turnover battle in the B/B era so I expect that to be corrected.
