I don't care what happens the entire movie so long there is at least one point where Lex Luthor utters a line similar to "Fine, let's cook something up"

Either that, or he tells Superman to tread lightly.

That video confession was farking brilliant. I know people like that tread lightly line as well, but my favorite was just before that when Hank said that he'll get Skyler and the kids to their house and instantly you can see the evil come out and he utters "That's not going to happen"

2013-08-26 10:42:06 AM
Why wouldn't Joss Whedon be excited about this? It just makes the Avengers look that much more brilliant. We've all said that comic book movies are sort of lowest common denominator, easy way to rake in the money, but what if Christopher Nolan's Batman, and Joss Whedon's Marvel run are just a strange confluence of events that actually churned out a few quality films in an otherwise sucky world?

Good (a relative term here) main stream comic movies that have come out lately:
Batman Begins
The Dark Knight
Iron Man
Iron Man 3
Spider Man (with Tobey McGuire)
XMen
Avengers
Kick Ass
Hell Boy
Watchmen

Bad comic book movies:
Punisher (all of them)
Ghost Rider (both)
Batman and Robin
Fantastic Four (both)
Green Lantern
The other four Spider Man movies (maybe not the second one)
Xmen 3
Wolverine (Origins)
Scott Pilgrim (disagree with me all you want, but that little twerp is such a prick)
Dredd

And then I would put the rest in their own category of 'okay.'

So the genuinely good ones to have come out, have been few and far between. Maybe comic book movies are harder than we might think, to actually do them right.

As I recall, fanboy's shiat their pants over Robert Downey Jr. being picked to play Tony Stark. Much gnashing of teeth and threats of boycott.

Then the movie came out, and they all shut up.

I thought it was an excellent choice. I mean who else to play someone with demons than someone with demons of their own?

Yeah. I didn't get the hate. Great actor. Many similarities to Stark. Yet the internet fanboy world went apeshiat.

I hope Affleck knocks it out of the park.

In the age of shameless partisan gerrymandering, unlimited funding of campaigns by Super PACs, and the largest gulf in income equality in decades, you have more of a say in what movies you pay to see in the theater than in who your damn congressman is.

Yeah, the people that knew who RDJ was and had seen him act knew it was the most-perfect casting in at least a decade. Same goes for Ledger (and I admit I was largely ignorant of him, but trusted in Nolan).

This time, it's the people that know Affleck and his work that're saying he's probably gonna be crap as Bats. If everything else goes *perfect*, he'll still be the weakest link; and if the script or direction are crap he's not a strong-enough actor to compensate.

I call shenanigans. There was a TON of "That gay cowboy can't be no Joker", a little bit of "No seriously, he's more talented than you think he is, he might be able to do it," and virtually ZERO "What perfect casting!" The benefit of the doubt came almost entirely from people who trusted Nolan to make a good choice for his Batman movie. And why not? He made a good Batman Begins out of Goyer's asstastic script.
