That's about 1/400th of his fortune and about 1/5,000th the market cap of SBUX.  Why is this news?  Did Bill Gates buy some IBM today?

I was at Disneyland about 3 hours ago and heard a trolley driver tell people they're putting a Starbucks on Main Street in a few months.

I'm sure a few months after that, there will be another one across the street.

SB bought out a successful Dairy Queen on the highway in my town, demolished it, scraped the ground clean and built a shrine to bad coffee. i'm guessing that was $2,000,000.00 easy. They have to sell a fark of a lot of burnt coffee to get that scratch back.

There's still one or two corners available.

Starbucks has been trying to back away from their burnt coffee reputation.  They brought out their "blonde roast" blends which are lighter than their average roast a year or so ago.  They're also starting to build up again shutting down a lot of stores 5 years ago.  They opened a new location in my town, which is a nice alternative to the local coffee shop that has better coffee but short hours.  I bought a pound of their Kati-kati blend there 2 weeks ago and it isn't half bad.

You've got it backwards. They already put one in DCA and now they're putting one across the street in Disneyland.

Magic Kingdom's opened in Florida a short while ago.   Nice little triangle of investment going on here between Disney, Lucas, and Starbucks.

And Japan.

When I think of over-priced status symbol extra caffeinated coffees....I think of Asian nations right after America.

/likes Starbucks coffee...mostly because I can get it so creamed and sugared it doesn't actually taste like coffee anymore.
//other coffee shops tend not to like it when I do that there.
