A woman attending to her business is not sexy, topless or not. The sexy is in her presentation. Her boobs alone are not distracting, except in a 'not normally seen' kind of way. I believe in equality in all things for all people, male or female; black or white; civilian or cop; politico or citizen. It's inconceivable that this is an issue today. Women were born with the inalienable right to nakedness and there should be no laws to circumvent it. Only she can determine to appropriateness of clothing herself.

Oh_Enough_Already: Women: "We demand the right to go topless just like men do!"

Society: "Uh, okay."

Women 5 minutes later: "ZOMG! All these pervs are looking at my boobs! Somebody do something!"

In addition to that we'll also get "ZOMG! Put a shirt on! Holy fark I'm blind! I never want to see another set of titties again!" after the few women that are willing to do this turn out to be the ones we don't want to run around topless. Ever been to a nude beach? It's not the beautiful people that like to run around naked in public.

"Women's bare breasts would be a distraction".  And certainly, they would for awhile, but, eventually, wouldn't it become as commonplace as bare chested men (which, doesn't make people "distracted" in general), and become not a distraction?

The question becoming... is this what men are really afraid of?  That it will lose it's "titillation"?  Do men ultimately not want to have it not get them "excited"?  They don't want to lose that part of the heterosexual men's psyche?

Yes, it's true that we would lose some of the titillation (ugh), but humans presumably managed to get aroused and have sex for thousands of years before they had clothing, so I think we'd be OK.

I've been to beaches that cater to Euro expats, not in the CONUS. Plenty of hot nekkid women running around them places.

Go to a beach and watch the women's eyes. They look at the hard-bodied male chests with just as much frequency, they are just better at not being obvious.

Yes, it certainly was.
They not only check out guys chests, but also their asses and their "packages". They are better and quicker at retaining what they see, so they can be more covert at it.

Because a true "journalist" wants to become the story, not report the story.

What a pathetic attention whore.

Seriously, with all the terrible things that are happening in the world, a few people are getting all wound up about whether or not some fat chicks can make fools out of themselves in public? The mayor even told her it was legal, but she still had to "shock" him. We are in trouble as a world and I hope she gets fired, just like I would hope a male reporter would be fired if he took his shirt off during an interview.

Go back to Human Sexuality 101.  Males are hard-wired to be sexually aroused by the display of certain parts of the female anatomy, breasts being one.  Females, OTOH, are hard-wired to need an emotional component in order to be aroused.  That's why male toplessness is inherently different from the female version.  Yes, males will have to learn to control themselves even more, but don't think for a moment that it won't be a struggle for men.

2013-08-25 02:35:44 PM
Attractive women age 18-45 may take note that I can make myself available to be interviewed almost any day of the year, in public or private, about any subject whatsoever. And you don't have to be topless: you can go bottomless instead, or even completely nude.

The Farkette who sent me a BIE Valentine is especially welcome. With the right approach I might tell you anything you want to know.

2013-08-25 02:39:55 PM
By the way, in the interest of fairness, I have a topless photo of myself to send anyone who asks. Just make sure you have a quart or so of eye bleach on hand, mkay?

They intentionally hide their body language, too. Don't want to give away that they're turned on, when the guy might look hawt but turn out to be a psychopathic manchild.

/if the guy was their true soulmate, they would be able to tell that she likes him even if she's angrily denying it and throwing out obvious signals she isn't interested
//substitute the equivalent "have psychic superpowers" for "be their one true soulmate," and you can see why the dating scene is so messed up
///and it doesn't help that it's ridiculously easy to take advantage of this as a guy, if you're willing to play the "psychic powers" con game to control the poor girl's emotional state and make her think the way you want her to, then seem like a "true soulmate" when you repeat to her the ideas you implanted

Is there any actual evidence to suggest that *men* are against women being topless?

In my experience, *women* are many times more observant and many times more critical of other women appearance than men are.  Maybe it's been too many years, but back when I was in college, if a girl dressed 'like a slut' at a party, all she'd get is positive attention from men....but it was always other girls who would comment on them.

If you look at the people signing the petition supporting women going topless (http://www.thepetitionsite.com/1/womens-consitutional-right-to-go-to pl ess/ ) - at a quick glance, it appears to be more men than women.
