For the Longest Time I thought that Elvis Costello was from the north east States. Saw a rockpalast-type early concert of his, and his between song banter (which there wasn't much of, he just ploughed thru about 30 tunes in an hour) was in his native British accent. I was floored.

/i always thought he sang like if Woody Allen could sing.
