I don't think I'd want my kid to have the organs from someone with a brain eating amoeba. Seems like that wouldn't take too much of a brain to figure out

I had hoped with the new drug that they could have saved him, as the doctors did with the Arkansas girl. Guess it was the cure but it was too late.

/Wonderful the family plans to donate his organs to others.

And for those who think that Subby is just making a typically sick Fark joke about this, it is indeed a direct quote:

"He did so well that he'll be the starting 2nd baseman for The Lord's team," the Facebook post states. "I sit back and ask myself, what would make me prouder; my son playing pro ball, being a successful business man or being known for changing and saving thousands of lives for The Lord. It's a no-brainer."

God wants an amoeba to crawl up your ass and kill, you because he loves you.

Thank you Jesus. Florida is fun.

As someone who needs a new liver, I am always happy to hear that the organs will be donated.  It's a sad loss but I truly hope they succeed in saving another human's life.

RIP little man.

The author of the post is incredibly presumptuous. The deceased individual may in fact be in Hell.

Every time someone dies, let's all thank the lord for it, because the dead person's organs can now be harvested to save other people from going to heaven too early. Hmm, hey wait a second, if heaven is such a good place, why don't we just all die to go there right away while we're still not evil?

Religious nuttery aside, at least they were getting the kid genuine medical treatment at the same time.

People who have lived their life doing nothing but praying to Teh Jeebus and sucking the churches cock. They want to either live vicariously through their child or guarantee a cushy place to live when they're a bazillion years old and just have their social security check to look forward to.

I live not too far from Labelle and lots of people around here are freaking out. Now they won't go to swimming pool or water parks for fear of their brains rotting out. I've even heard of people who won't drink or cook with anything but boiled distilled water.

I don't believe in a sky wizard so I would be thanking doctors, science, and the family of the donor. I want a liver not so I can be saved from "going to heavan too early", but because I'm not even 40 and I kinda just don't want to die yet.

Agree 100%.

Hes definitely not an anguished father struggling to make sense of the unbearable pain of losing his son, using the only coping mechanisms he has been given.

No, he is mos def a jackass and clearly didn't love his dead son. Because He's doing it all wrong.

Tell me though guys, what is the right way to grieve?

It's an isolated cranial infection that can't be passed through the blood stream to other organs, and they're viable.

I also don't think, at this point, beggars can be choosers.

Are they sure they got all the amoebas, one has to wonder. Sure it is a taste for brain but what if some spread to the organs in the escape from the drugs they uesd. That is all someone needs when they get a liver or heart they also get something else that kills them faster with all the anti-rejection drugs they have to take. If someone has died from brain cancer they don't take the organs even if one does not show signs of the cancer speading.

Doesn't matter. It's Fark, so the fact that this guy believes in God means that, de facto, he's too much of an idiot to do ANYTHING right, including grieve in a perfectly appropriate and commendable way for his dead child. Also, in addition to the whole belief in God thing, he's a bad parent for envisioning his child's future success in some relatively common ways, instead of being "just a dad." SHAME.

It's a bummer to see how much energy is expended by people in mocking and disparaging people like this dad. I can only imagine how scathing their criticism must be for people who have actually done anything wrong.

/Not a bad sport, the half-a-mind etc jokes are awesome, came to the thread for them.

Here we can rely on the classic Epicurus argument:

"Is god willing to prevent evil, but unable? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him god."

It goes beyond that, though. According to the bible, god is both omniscient and omnipotent, meaning he is everywhere at once, and knows exactly what is going to happen at any given point in time. This means everything that has ever happened or ever will happen is preplanned and preordained; fate. I would not want to believe in a god who claims we have a choice to accept him, so as not to spend eternity in fire, only to have the choice already made long before we were born. He would already know our hardships, illnesses, and choices long in advance, but is unwilling to intervene; that is true evil.

Why do parents send their kids off to school when the event is both traumatic and potentially exposes them to suffering they would not have had to endure if they had just stayed under mommy's skirts?

The difference is that we are mortal, and live the ways mortals do. God would not fall under that category. If he were "testing" us with trials, but already knowing the answers, that'd be sadistic as shiat.
