Apparently having subject agreement in a headline is not sign number twelve.

Masks on the walls comes to mind. Personal experience, anecdotal at best.

I think its funny they don't think you can be a sociopath and still have a meaningful emotional internal world. Other than that they've got a pretty good list going there.

2013-08-24 04:30:18 PM
Hey, I have 4 of those traits.  Does that make me 36% sociopathic?  Or just a sociopath one third of the time?

(5,7,10, & 11, if you're curious.)

#12 -- They run for Congress.

#12: Making generalizations about groups of people based on ethnographies or large quantitative datasets.

Or is that "sociologists?"  I always get those confused.

1 in 25 people are sociopaths and they cause a great deal of suffering in the world.  It's important to be able to identify them and not fall victim to their dangerous manipulations.  Many of the CEO's we read about who have looted companies and screwed over investors and pensioners are sociopaths.  A previous comment said they run for congress, actually there is a great deal of truth to that.

It means that 36% of the time, you're a sociopath all the time.

Those signs also describe business executives.

I am not a sociopath so subby should go a head and die like all those biatches and their friend zone bullshiat.

If you are 25-33ish, then you spent your formative years in the 80s, and your teenage years in the 90s.  You are a sociopath.

2013-08-24 08:55:15 PM
I'm not a sociopath, I'm just evil.

2013-08-24 08:55:23 PM
Wow, turns out people with Asbergers are all sociopaths.

I'm probably a sociopath by this wackadoodle's standard, but not even slightly autistic.

Uh, if they displayed all these signs right off, no one would ever date them, and we'd all be safe. The tricky part is--they often don't show any of these traits until they have someone under their control. They know better.

And if they're good, you never know a lot of things. Like that time my ex had a boyfriend the entire time I was married to him.

/somebody told me later

2013-08-24 09:01:26 PM
I am a sociopath and proud of it.  Now watch as I become a CEO and loot multiple companies.  I will lay off thousands of workers, practically ensure that companies are ruined by my decisions, and I will get a payout of millions from each of them.   I will go from company to company repeating the process endlessly.   No one can stop me!!!!

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!

2013-08-24 09:03:41 PM
Don't let me forget lawyers. Here's an excerpt form a simlilar HuffPo article:

Explaining that it wasn't until she got to law school that she came to terms with her diagnosis, Thomas says it was "natural" for her to think like a lawyer -- "very logically, rationally."

So... how do you act in the best interests of a client if you are a sociopath? Is the money enough to keep you on track, do you have to make their interests your goal, or do you just not give a fark? Maybe a bit of the first and last?

People who have masks on the wall tend to be strange. At least that's what I've found.

Dow Jones and the Temple of Doom: My ex thought I was a sociopath, but she was the real sociopath

They project like crazy to protect their fragile egos. Like Jung said, the foundation of all mental illness is the unwillingness to experience genuine suffering. Whenever they start feeling guilty or sad they look for someone else to blame and hate, rather than themselves.

He was only a sociopath if he said no to a threesome with a black gigolo.

Unfortunately.  I have found that growing up on NES with virtually no parental guidance led me to smoking and drinking before puberty,  Then there was the criminal mischief that I got away with, which emboldened me.  There was also gangsta rap (Onyx and NWA to be specific.)  Then there were the easy girls who gave you sweet lovin if you pressed the right button combo.

I was made a sociopath by society.  There's still this annoying little ember that won't burn out that keeps me WANTING to be loved and accepted.  It's just really hard at this point (I forgot to mention the LSD and Mushroom phase in 99-00!) to find a place where I am genuinely understood.  And that's the cornerstone of love, being understood.  Anyone who understands me thoroughly would be unattractive to me.  Those 20 years were insanely wild and feral.

I don't have a complex, I'm just superior

The only one of those that really matters is empathy. Most of them can be attributed to depression or even just introversion, among other traits. I'm no psychologist but a lot of these articles just seem to want to be able to neatly label and categorize people. I still roll my eyes when I think of the one article I saw on CNN that tried to correlate psychopathy and a lack of a facebook account.

Don't set the bar so low. My next boyfriend had better have at least 9 of the traits. I'm ready for a new challenge.

Deal is point #2. If the sociopath *knows* he's a sociopath, the lies and manipulation are key, and if he knows, he's hiding the rest of those traits - so you'll never know until it all falls apart.

These are traits of "sociopath in training"

I know what you mean. I could lie, cheat and con with ease but am too dang honest, it would make me feel bad. So I live by the karma rule and try to remember to do a good deed often. I figure with my criminal mind I must have been a bad character in a past life so I better get lots of good deeds to even things out.

The 'intense eyes' thing is bullshiat you'll never see in any formal diagnosis. And it's understood most people will demonstrate some of the signs. Doesn't mean you're one.
