Maybe if rape was the punishment for DUI, less drunk biatches would think about getting behind the wheel after a night dancing with the gurls

Anyone want to take the challenge to find these tapes on the intrawebs?

redsquid: Morons got caught driving drunk and were treated the same way any other criminal is treated- boo farking hoo. The only time I was ever arrested the cop made me take my shirt off on the road side so he could get pics of my tattoos in case I had 'gang affiliations' (because most gang bangers are 30 something white guys with long hair carrying acoustic guitars). It sucks, but the time to biatch about the laws is before they are passed. Everyone is pissing and moaning about the SC decision regarding strip searches but how many of you wrote letters or circulated petitions before the ruling was made? How many people even knew the decision was going to be made? Who needs secret courts when you can just anesthetize the population to the point that they don't care?
Oooh... is that a Kardashian in a dancing contest? Cool. Pass me a beer and pack a bowl.

I certainly didn't know about the decision being made. Did you?  I read Fark and keep reasonably abreast of the news so I think we can put it down to a failure of the media.  Or perhaps the world works fast enough now that important stories like that can fall through the cracks despite our always on interwebs and pocket size handheld screens.

namatad: You dont think that it is about exposing an illegal practice and abuse of police powers?
hmmmmm ok

What's illegal about videotaping people inside a jail? They even gave the tapes to the lawyer during the discovery process. They certainly weren't trying to hide anything. I would think people would expect to be videotaped while in jail.

I'm thinking this lawyer saw a way to coerce the city into making a settlement and now he's upset because they didn't pay him to go away.

That's what the lawyer claims and I'm sure he has no reason to lie, right?

Yea, I was kinda wondering about how purdy he was, too. "Hey Bubba, if ya squint a little, he looks like tha model on that thar magazine in tha john! You know, tha real sticky one! Hurr hurr!"

At this point I think the Lawyers Lie, and the Cops Lie people need to get together and realize that People Lie.  The police have just as much reason to lie about this as the lawyer does. The difference is that when people in a position of power and authority lie the innocent are made into victims.  Don't let the 1% of lying lawyers make you jaded to the other 99% right? Isn't that the defense you use for cops?  Don't be a hypocrite.

NO, I demand to speak to a lawyer first.
AM, I under arrest?
I free to go, good bye

What is your reply to a taser probe embedded in your skin while the cop shouts "stop resisting!" at your uncontrollably writhing body because he didn't like your attitude and knows he is above the law?

Smackledorfer: shtychkn: Smackledorfer: shtychkn: fusillade762: Thank the Supremes.

Supreme Court Ruling Allows Strip Searches for Any Arrest

The Supreme Court on Monday ruled by a 5-to-4 vote that officials may strip-search people arrested for any offense, however minor, before admitting them to jails even if the officials have no reason to suspect the presence of contraband.

Yeah, that was one of the more depressing Supreme Court decisions

I agree.

A better solution is eliminating all physical contact between prisoners. That shuts off the prison gangs' ability to control the streets too. Win-win.

I agree.  But isolation for extended periods has been determined to be cruel and unusual.  Though less human contact is probably less cruel then "too much" in my opinion

I say let em talk. Let em browse the internet. Let them do all sorts of things. But no physical opportunity to rape and kill eachother.

Hell I would let them smoke weed too, though.

Are you Danish? They allow that.

Start listening to progressive radio stations. They talk about this stuff.

WCPT. http://chicagosprogressivetalk.com/

My favorite is Stephanie Miller in the mornings. It is, as they say, "like a Mensa meeting with fart jokes." Lol

They do tell you what votes are coming up with SCOTUS (scrotus lol) and when they expect there will be a vote on it. All the shows on that station are pretty good about getting that info in there as well as laws that have passed.

This is done at every jail in the united states!  Every cell has a camera in it recording the inmates.  They have officers watching the cameras of the inmates all the time.  This is not news and the inmates have no case.

Actually this doesn't involve any cops. The complaint is against the jail personnel who are usually non-cop employees.

It sounds like they have a security camera in the bathroom. They would use a female to do a strip-search, but this sounds like it's just video from the bathroom camera, not a search.

cmon cruiser, I know you have been retired for a long time now, but you must still remember that it is entry and or pasture territory for the sheriffs department that handles intake.

And stop defending rapists just because some idiot decided it was a good idea to pin a tin star on a 30k per anum mind.

strangely enough, you dont lose ANY RIGHTS when you are arrested.
NONE AT ALL

while you might not be free to leave the station, you certainly maintain all of your rights to due process and most of the privacy ones.

sure, they can strip search you and cavity search you
but when they do those things when you are arrested for jaywalking?
well the judges and courts have problems with that.

the reason that the city will most likely settle is that the cost of not settling will be much larger.

If you dont understand how their actions were abuse of power, well, you never will.
at least until it happens to you.

it is kind of like racism. white people will never get it. (rarely at best)

I wish I was retired. I just got home from work.

This is a city detention facility so I'm guessing it's staffed by civilian jailers. If it was a county lockup it would likely be the Sheriff's Department.

I'm not defending this practice, I'm just leery of information that comes from an attorney who stands to profit from his lawsuit. The jail gave the lawyer the tapes as part of discovery. Why would they do that if they had something to hide?

There are some pretty strict rules about strip searches. The dumbasses in Texas went way past those rules. This doesn't sound like a strip-search though. It just sounds like security cameras placed in the bathrooms.

If the male jailers are watching the monitors while females are undressing, I've got a big problem with that. If this is just a case of having security cameras in the bathroom to protect the city from false accusations and nobody watches the tapes unless there's a complaint that needs to be investigated, then I'm okay with it.
