A Savannah cat is a cross between a domestic cat and the larger, African Serval wild cat. It is an exotic pet breed.

Someone lost a declawed Serval cat near the Aldergrove naval radio base station in B.C.a couple years ago. Acres and acres of restricted area no trespassing woods and fields. I don't think they ever found it.

Big cats actually giving humanity a competitive run for survival would be a delightfully wicked turn of events. Walruses even better.

I can't believe I'm the Weeners on how the old and busted, new hotness headline is so indicative of a quality submission - as soon as I see this I immediately read the article forthwith and complement subby on such a witty choice of phrase...

If it eats a crackhead, will it become addicted? Might a long ways to slowing down the drug problem.

Looks like a Savannah. Poor thing, those cats are so friendly and awesome; they're practically dogs. If I could afford their hefty price tags I'd own a couple.

Well I've heard of the Detroit Lions and Detroit Tigers. So this isn't too surprising.

Am I the only one who thinks that it does not look like a domestic cat at all? And I mean wild, not feral.

Yes, everyone else think it looks like a common tabby.

I googled them to see how much they would cost. Lo and behold there is a breeder located about 5 miles away from the neighborhood in the article. So I think we may have a source for the escape.

A Savannah cat is a cross between a domestic cat and the serval, a medium-sized, large-eared wild African cat.

Pfft. It's a domestic cat that's gotten loose or been turned out. Seems to be rather skittish of people too. When it actually attacks someone(that wasn't messing with it) then get back to me.

I clicked expecting a Mountain Lion or some escaped zoo cat feasting on the roaming dogs or whatnot, and saw that. Disappointing. Detroit needs a little more natural selection.

Detroit is now the set of I Am Legend.

I think we need to just let it go. Give it to Canada, or something.

My parents live on the border of Detroit & Grosse Pointe. They can't let their cats out because there are coyotes roaming the abandoned grassland that used to be Detroit. Last time I visited I almost hit a wild pheasant.

"The Detroit Zoological Society is frequently asked to help with the rescue of exotic animals from private owners, pseudo-sanctuaries, roadside zoos and circuses. Among the DZS's rescues are more than 1,000 exotic animals confiscated from an animal wholesaler in Texas, a polar bear that was confiscated from a circus in Puerto Rico, a lioness that was used to guard a crack house...

Pssh there were plenty of dogs and cats being eaten in downtown Chicago. I was walking back to my old apartment near the Lincoln Park Zoo and saw a pair of coyotes just trotting around in the middle of Clark street. They sat there and stared and me like I was some asshole getting in their way of all the tasty small rabbits that infest the park.

Hell before that my old building put this sign in the elevator:
