At least she could spell lambaste.

I for one think it was a very big deal that our ambassador was murdered in Benghazi. In saying "I take responsibility" for it as secretary of state, Hillary should have resigned immediately. The weak response by the Obama administration to that tragedy has given a huge opening to Republicans in the next presidential election.

Beeeeeecause if it didn't work in the 'last' election when it was fresh and new and completely confusing and chaotic and it looked horrible and worthy of condemnation....

It'll work 4 years later after everyone except a few GOPers have forgotten about it and moved on.

And this woman is supposed to be intelligent?

2013-08-24 01:40:50 PM
I'm reading it as 'The Democrats  have much better, younger candidates available than Hillary'. That's not exactly lambasting anyone

Infernalist: And this woman is supposed to be intelligent?

She's a birther so not really.  Paglia is what stupid people think smart people sound like.

2013-08-24 01:42:36 PM
I'm sorry, I can't take anyone seriously who says the only good show on TV is "Real Housewives."

2013-08-24 01:48:50 PM
I can't fap to that

Aaaaaaaand we're done.

Who?

Someone who still believes the Democratic Party is liberal.

How cute.

Some Castlevania boss.

What happened to Camille Paglia? What did she decide to hop on the crazy train? When she had her debate with Neil Potsdam in Harper's you could disagree with her but you could respect the intelligence. Now she just reads from the Fox News talking points.

2013-08-24 02:25:49 PM
Well why not?
HIllary is a globalist who tells women not to vote with their vaginas.

That and if you don't like Option A, you ought to be able to come up with an Option B.  "Maybe a youngish governor with business experience from  somewhere" is not an actual alternative.

She is a literary and social critic. Critics don't often come up with alternatives or solutions, they take pot shots from the sidelines. Paglia has made a career out of being controversial from the safe haven of academia. Paying attention to her only encourages her.

No kidding.  She's a birther who is aboard the Benghazi train - she's indistinguishable from a tea party loon now.  I'm kinda surprised she still self-recognizes as a Democrat.

Camille Paglia was the Ann Coulter before Ann Coulter figured out she could be Ann Coulter without being burned alive at the stake.

Camille Who?

2013-08-24 03:21:26 PM
"What has she ever actually accomplished?" should be the beginning, middle, and end of every conversation about Hillary. Even among Democrats.

She is not the layup heir apparent a lot of people seem to think she is.

When did Camille Paglia officially turn into a FOX-friendly version of Gloria Ironbox?

Looks to me like she missed all the attention she used to get at the height of her fame and so at some point hopped in bed with Matt Drudge and FOX and she's now become their go-to gal for saying cray cray shiate.

Like Pavlov's dog she's been conditioned over time to realize that only the nutiter stuff that aligns with their agenda gets play so she's now become a birther apologist/ Hillary critic/what have you for hire.

There was a time when I had a modicum of respect for her intelligence if not necessarily her opinion.

That time has long since past.

The paperback release last week of her book "Glittering Images: A Journey Through Art From Egypt to Star Wars"

Stopped reading there.

I'm not a Hillary Clinton fan. I just think Camille Paglia is a noisy Tea Bagger whose opinions are incredibly bad.

Bravo's "Real Housewives" series isn't just entertainment for devoted fans like me - it's an entire all-absorbing universe of pride and passion. I can watch the same episode four or five times.

Her opinion on any subject is rendered meaningless by this statement.  That being said, I agree that Hillary Clinton is hardly the best the Democrats can come up with.

I always base my decisions on the opinion of a birther who thinks Benghazi is a scandal.

She has always been an infuriating mix of brilliant ideas and "did she just say what I think she just said?" I saw her speak back in '95 or so (strangest date ever) and it was hard to believe one person could hold the various opinions she did without exploding.

That she is a lesbian with a child keeps her in the party for identification purposes. Her history of sexual harassment makes her a darling for the GOP though, and looking to be "edgy" with her commentary. She has pretty well burned every bridge in her professional career, so yeah, this is the logical step...

"Camille Paglia  lambaste Hillary Clinton"

For a second  I thought we would have another lesbian thread.

I must confess that I find very little of interest in too-formulaic contemporary pornography - except for the always hot gay-male scenarios that one stumbles on in surfing the Web.

Yeah, I, uh, stumble across those all the time. Stumble, that's the ticket.

That entire article gave me whiplash. She goes from being reasonable to batshiat and back again multiple times over the course of answering even a single question.

She always gives me the impression that she decided early on in her academic career that she didn't want to be seen as the angry, drably clothed, Birkenstock-wearing, stereotype of a lesbian feminist and concluded that the best way to do that was by praising porn and cozying up with the establishment. As someone in the younger generation, her shtick strikes me as a mix of self-loathing and a desire to be accepted by the power structure by saying things that she pretends are outrageous but are really the same old patriarchal tropes repackaged in feminist language. It's all rather boring.

However you feel about Paglia, she makes at least one salient point.  We deserve better and the Democrats most certainly have better.

I worked with a few women over the years who have worked with her, or interned with her, and your assessment is creepily accurate from all that they've said. Well, that and she is REALLY aggressive with interns and interviewers for potential dates...

The compulsion to exhibit and boast about one's penis is embarrassingly infantile

Says the woman who's made a career boasting about her vagina.

So she really is that obviously broadcasting her own personal issues in her work. Interesting. It seems that one could do an entire dissertation dissecting her work looking at that aspect alone.

Who the f cares what the supposed "intelligentsia" think.

Attention whore.

I've read Paglia that was interesting, and I've read Paglia that was mediocre, and I've read Paglia that was absolute garbage. Quite a while ago, it lead me to the conclusion that she's just an attention whore that does handstands with rhetoric rather than on the beach. It's gotten past the point of being entertaining or titillating, and is now just boring and sad.

Meh. Camille's being a "contrarian for it's own sake" schitck was wearing pretty thin years ago.

I'm always curious when people bring up this point...who is this not-Hillary nationally recognized and respected Democrat who is poised to step up to win the nomination and beat whomever the GOP puts up?
