Hi.  Let me introduce you to the AFC and NFC North.

2013-08-24 11:09:21 AM
not really... not even the Giants upsetting the undefeated Pats or beating a weak Pats team 4 years later compares to the current SEC

the current SEC is more like the NFC was in the late 80's/90's, when every year you had a stacked division leader playing other stacked division leaders

the AFC had some great teams back then, a lot of those teams that got blown out in the super bowl were super competitive against those very teams that blew them out - but the lack of competition in the AFC playoffs back then meant either A) good teams got there before they had the experience/depth to win a super bowl (sort of like Notre Dame this year) or B) teams got by winning by the skin of their teeth with no real chance to win a super bowl (like the bills in 1993 or the patriots in 1985)

the NFC East was super competitive when the NFC was dominant in general, but ever since the salary cap the redskins and cowboys have never been the same so it's not really the same, the NFC West is a better comparison

2013-08-24 11:09:51 AM
Can someone explain this SEC is overrated thing to me.  A 9-1 record in the BCS title game with the one loss coming to another SEC team seems pretty good to me.  30 points scored on average effectively double up their opponents and never letting a team score more that 24 points on times, seems pretty good to me. They are 17-8 in BCS bowl games, which is the best winning record on any major conference (the MWC is 3-1).  If they're overrated beat them; until them they don't seem overrated.

/If they're cheating... well that may be a different story.

It can easily be argued that the NFC East is the weakest division in the NFC.

(conference wins last year)

North (25)
West (24)
South (23)
East (23)

I don't see any evidence that the East teams have improved any more than the rest of the league.

The best teams in the SEC are typically the best teams in the country (or at least among them), but the SEC has definitely been given an overall boost in the public conscious, even when it might not be as strong as other conferences.  In 2009, for example, Alabama and Florida were both great teams (27-1 on the season), but the rest of the conference was pretty bad.  But because those top teams were so good, the SEC was considered the best conference, even other conferences may have been stronger top to bottom.

I think if you go back and look at how often at least one wildcard has come out of the NFC East, it would validate that statement.

Well, the issue with that is that the SEC usually does pretty well in bowl games, last year was 6-3, and usually at least 500.  And yes I know there are some bad teams in the SEC (I'm a UK grad) but it seems to me that they're better at the top then other conferences and equal in the middle.  These other conferences seems to be saying "our cellar dwellers are better than you cellar dwellers."  People didn't look at the Big East a few years ago when they were the best conference in basketball and say "Well, you've got DePaul and Rutgers so you can't be the best."

Mentat: Don't worry subby, your conference will win a National Championship some day.

/pats subby on the head

This is why the SEC hate exists, because fans of shiatty teams use their conference affiliation to ignore/deflect from their lack of success.  Your team was a middle of the road Big 12 team that became a bottom feeder in the SEC because they needed someone to tag along with Texas A&M.  No one WANTS you in the SEC and even the Big 10 didn't want you.  If you're going to go all "SEC! SEC! SEC!" all over the place, at least root for one of the teams that actually made it the best conference in the country and not a latecomer punching bag.

Elvis Presleys Death Throne:  And lets not forget that the NFC East usually takes the wildcard, while having to play the teams in their own division twice.

The SEC has a number of dominant teams all competing to be the final winner.  The NFC East has all mediocre teams competing to see who gets the division by default.  They're like the inverse-SEC, or the anti-SEC.

The fact that manning was able to tuck the ball there and pull away just shows that the defender has a handful of jersey frabric. If he was in the control of the defender he wouldn't be able to pull away to make the jersey stretch that much.

You also have to look at where the refs were on that play. Just because you can't see what's exactly going on means you whistle it dead
