The only thing a person who posts on a news channel's Facebook page is capable of thinking what that thing is would be a chupacabra

Nope. Chuck Testa.

Jaw bone is too narrow to be a chupacabra.

2013-08-24 10:14:26 AM
and if a credible 24 hour news network reported this it would read "Some experts claim the head belongs to a chupacabra"

As long as we are clear that dead humans have to be either gorgon, vampire, or savior.

I misread the headline as suggesting that the Facebook identification was done by employees of the TV station. Probably set up to think that by the "Modern journalism" opening.

I guess the Coast to Coast AM paranormal vibe gets into a lot of thinking today. Nobody would make news over a dead animal unless they could spin it into a "mysterious creature" of some sort.

This being from Texas, I will say "coyoté". Otherwise, dog.

Yup. Look at those canine teeth. Coyoté.

George Bush park? Please, please tell me it is a Dog Park.

Chupacabra...I keep thinking mystical creature whenever I read that.
But the way the headline was worded, I thought maybe some common animal.
The iPhone has this nice feature (for a phone) where of you highlight a word, one of the options that pops up is "define".

So I highlight the word and get the definition. Mystical creature that attacks animals such as goats. Origin of the word is Spanish; literally "Goat Sucker.

And here I can't help but think I read that thread here before.

Arkanaut: I think it looks like a puma.

Fangs are too short, especially in the lower jaw.

I'm leaning toward a relatively short-snouted dog, but another angle would be helpful.

Methinks spanish is not your forte. Animal identification either.

The accent is on the second syllable, like most spanish words. No extraneous accent symbols necessary.

Coyotes have long thin snouts.

It's absolutely a dog, most likely a pit bull.

Anyone who cannot tell it is a dog is unfamiliar with large dogs, or is delusional.
