The first 56 seconds are a little boring, but it turns into pure awesome win from 57 seconds to the end.  I laughed so hard my eyes teared up.

That is animal cruelty.

I know.. <welcome to fark.jpg>

But, really I was hoping the video would end with the cat scratching the guy's eyes out of his skull.

I said that out loud, word for word, a few seconds into it. As I sit here with my 2 cats laying near me I can't help but think that neither one of them would put up with my trying that crap on them. Both of them are very affectionate but there's no way they'd let anyone do that.

I don't understand people like you. My three cats were rescued from living on the street and possibly dying from disease, starvation or accidents and they live a happy, pampered life. They are declawed because I couldn't get one of you bleeding heart, hypocrites to pay for any damaged furniture if I didn't declaw them. Do you expect people to just arrange their lives and possessions around animals? My cats are healthy and happy. They don't suffer one bit from not having their front claws. Oh but you would rather I left them on the street because you have some misguided idea that claws are essential to a cats well being. You're an idiot.

My wife and I weren't proponents of declawing cats but we have one, a 16 pound black ball of fury, who put me in the hospital with some massive scratches and an eventual blood infection.  Took 24 stitches to get me sewn back up.  Even our vet, who is usually opposed to declawing, said "some cats you just have to."

We didn't declaw him until he was 2.5 years old, and it didn't seem to put him out any.  His sister still has her claws, but he beats the shiat out her anyway, and he still bites me daily.  I do not understand how two cats who were raised at the same time and in the same manner can turn out so differently.  She's sweet and cuddly, he is terrifying.

I don't want to offend the mentally retarded by calling you mentally retarded, so I will l just let you know that you are a complete moron.  You know  absolutely nothing about declawing.

Here is a link for you. And here is another. Or perhaps, due to your inability to read up on the subject, you would like to watch a nice short  video?

So, yeah, be  proud of yourself... You rescued a cat from the street and then cut the last joints of it's toes off so you could protect your furniture? That makes you a truly awesome human being! Give yourself a nice pat on the back.

Afterall, if your cats didn't mention to you that they have to shift their weight onto their back legs for the rest of their lives and suffer joint discomfort because you cut the last joints of their front toes off, then they must be totally fine. I mean.. they would have mentioned it, right?

Asshole, that cat bit long before we declawed him, all the farking time, so stuff your stupid link up your goddamn judgemental ass.  I still don't believe it's something to be done lightly, and it wasn't something I suggested even after I got out of the hospital.  It was done months later after consultation with our vet and the realization that he was going to keep drawing blood on a daily basis.  Ironically, it was my wife who brought it up after he scratched her so bad we had to tape up her arm for a month.  It was just fine when the cat was only injuring me.

He's doing great, but he still has such an attitude that the vet will not look at him without me or my wife in the room.  It's been four years since he was declawed, and all declawing has gained us is a fighting chance against him if he gets in a mood.  I'm hoping he's the first and last cat I'll ever have to declaw.  He's my ninth, and he's the only one for which we felt the procedure necessary.  It's not something I was eager to do, and I consider it cruel to the cat, but it was that or put him to sleep.  We didn't do it to save furniture, we did it to save on medical bills.  It was that or put the cat to sleep.

Even the vet agreed with us, and she recommended against a tendonectomy because of later complications with nail growth.  She said as long as the pain management was satisfactory the cat would recover well, and she was completely correct.  That cat isn't any nicer or meaner since he's been declawed.  He's just himself, which is to say he's the same asshole he's always been.

Re the second sentence: That's not what you suggested in your original  Wharrgarbl

And finally re what the vet said... Again, if you were capable of reading, you would know from the links I shared that some vets have reasons to suggest such things. It shouldn't even take reading an article to figure that out for yourself. But again, we are talking about YOU, so it is understandable.

I read the links, which is why your notion that the cat bites because he was declawed is absolute bullshiat.  HE ALREADY BIT, daily.  He scratched to the point of blood, daily.  It's just his nature.  Declawing didn't increase or decrease the frequency of the biting or scratching, it just reduced the level of injury he was capable of.  For an indoor cat on the cusp of being put to sleep, it was a reasonable alternative to death.

It's how the cat says hello as far as I can tell.  If I was prone to shooting people to say hello, I'd expect someone to take my gun away from me.  That's all we did.  He still has his backup knife and daggers (back claws and teeth).

As far as rational debate with a person who compares a vet who de-claws a cat to Megele, I'm not the irrational person here, nor am I the one embarrassed.

2013-08-24 02:41:00 AM
I've never had a cat that would allow me to reposition it, let alone grab it's paws and pose it.

2013-08-24 02:54:10 AM
I have five cats, most of whom are the friendliest things in the world, but even our big orange tabby (who lets anyone pick him up and hold him like a baby) wouldn't let that happen for more than 10 seconds w/o fussing.

On the subject of declawing, we have one boy who was born with 24 toes, some at odd angles and we got those toes declawed so that they didn't hurt him when he walked. He doesn't seem to mind, and hasn't lost the ability to climb walls or change direction suddenly when zipping through the house.

Declawing is definitely something that has to be approached on a cat-by-cat basis, and shouldn't be a consideration for full-grown cats, except in extreme situations. In Lsherm's case, I think he deserves a medal for not locking that cat in the freezer and dropping the frozen corpse from a tall building.

Comparing a vet who declaws to a Nazi war criminal, though? Fark's image size limits couldn't even begin to cope with the amount of lighten up Francises you need.

Well, I don't believe in killing pets because they don't turn out right, so that's a big reason right there.  Sending him off to a shelter would be a death sentence, because even the vet won't handle him without me present.  I doubt he'd be high on the adoption list.

He's my first "off" pet.  He's my ninth cat, but I've had four dogs over the course of my life, and none of them were terrible.  This cat is terrible.  But much like an abused spouse, I am conditioned as a slave to his approval.  Every third night he will cuddle up on my pillow and tuck his head under my chin to sleep.  If I move, he'll bite, but if I lay very still he will purr and go to sleep.  He will run that routine just often enough to keep me from entertaining thoughts of killing him.

To put this silly argument to rest:

Yes, this is animal abuse -- not because he's pulling the cat's limbs to and fro (because the cat clearly doesn't like it), but because he's subjecting the poor animal to dubstep.

Such senseless cruelty. There is clearly no decency left in this world.

Regarding the declawing debate with Mija: I guess trimming their claws and putting claw covers was too much work. Talk about out of the pot and into the fire for your rescues. I feel awful for them that superficial things like furniture takes precedence over their health and comfort.

Declawing, if not for reasons like Lsherm, is animal cruelty.

cats are like computers.  people think because you can have one you should have one.  most of you don't know the basics of operation or care for either and you'll blame the cat/computer when it doesn't function the way you think it should.  you'll try to modify them based on some half-arsed information you gleaned from your evolutionarily stunted social circles and then wonder why you end up with a bloated neurotic mess that hates you.  hell, you don't even know how to read the error messages when they're smacking you in the face.  most of you should also be punched in the throat.

Dub-Step is the reproduction of the patterns of industrial noise in factories and work-sites while using music that has had separations dubbed into it.

WubWub is distortion bass music that exists ONLY to play distorted bass noise, it is NOT dubstep and simply is not even a genre on its own.

The first half of the song can also be described as "failed backstreet wannabee"... which makes the whole video pointless.

Creating music using portions of other music with artistic delays in the replay so as to explore the deeper patterns is DS, not Skrillex forgetting what "techno" means.

Mija: Do you expect people to just arrange their lives and possessions around animals?

You know how I got my cats to stop clawing up the house? I went out and got an 8-foot 2x4 and turned it into a scratching post / cat tree. Nothing but bare wood with a few perches nailed to it starting at about the 3.5-foot mark. The problem with most commercial scratching posts is that they are too short. A cat needs something taller than they can reach up to scratch. It's how they show dominance. Too short of a post and they'll find something else. And yes, I do expect pet owners to make reasonable accommodations for their pets.
