Past tense, how does it work?

The guys jokes were a bit too off color. i.e.

What's the difference between my gun and my dick? The 8-year old boy doesn't cry when my gun goes off in his mouth.

You need a new Fark handle.  The FIRST SENTENCE of TFA:

Cardinal Keith O'Brien blocked an independent inquiry into historic sex abuse a year before resigning over his own sexual conduct, the Catholic Church has confirmed.

Wasn't the last pope dude who just resigned the HMIC of the whole child abuse investigation for the church?  Seems I read that someplace.

I'd like to be on the team that inquires things of him.
I bet I could get him to tell all.
It may take a bit of time.
Months, even years, but when I got done, he would confess to everything.
Just like his little club does it.

Just like they always have done it.

Sometimes they hire non-priests to do independent investigations. Like this guy that produced homemade child porn.

In another 50 years this organization might actually stop its criminal actions of obstructing the police investigations into the sexual abuse of children.

It would go much faster if all of it's members stopped implicitly supporting this criminal behavior by continuing give them money. If they stopped paying until the church completely opened all their records to the police it would happen very fast. But I guess it is more important to catholics that their church continue business as usual than it is to protect children from rapists.

Religious morals at their finest: almighty dollar first ... fetuses and zygotes second ... children way down the list.

2013-08-23 10:37:21 AM
But that new pope of theirs is pretty chill, right?

Seriously. What person doesn't do everything he/she can to make sure his/her misdeeds are not found out? Whether it's a priest hiding his sex crimes or a baseball player scorching the earth to hide his PED use or a president erasing 18 minutes of tape.

I guess it is more important that crooked cops turn away from crimes.
they have been turning a blind eye for years.

Sell dope?
They will take you out back and beat the hell out of you THEN arrest you.

Rape kids?
oh, it's OK, He's a priest.

It's been this way forever.

And who exactly supports dirty cops? Do they meet for an hour every Sunday and put money in baskets to continue to support and show approval for dirty cops?

Because catholics continue do this for this organization that protects and enables child rapists.

They continue to give the shepherds money. This is implicit support of the shepherds' actions and choices.

This bothers me.  It's not as if these priests are molesting protestant and atheist kids, ffs--this should be torch-and-pitchfork territory for the Roman Catholic laity.

It's an absolute disgrace isn't it. How you can set yourself as a moral authority over millions of people globally, and not immediately root out all instances of SEXUAL ABUSE OF CHILDREN ferchrissakes, beggars belief

As a former-but-never-really catholic I can say that I don't get it either. I would ask my extended family all sorts of pointed questions trying to get to the meat-of-the-matter, but I like them. Other than being part of a seemingly evil organization at the ground level, they are all very ethical and warm human beings. I would take them over any evangelical I have met any day.

Most Catholics are ok. The priesthood, otoh ...
Crowbar bishops or cardinals, or former popes.

2013-08-23 02:51:54 PM
One interesting detail to note, it seems like most of the bishops actually wanted to look into this.  "a decision taken in 2011 by the Bishops' Conference of Scotland to commission an independent academic analysis of statistics relating to abuse and allegations of abuse over a 60-year period from 1952 to 2012. "

Then Cardinal Creep here, as President of the Conference, basically pigeonholed it.  Any guesses as to why?  Hint:  It may have something to do with possible skeletons in his very own closet.  He's an old man though, and hopefully he'll die soon and have a great chance to explain himself to the Almighty in person.

I feel better and won't crowbar anybody today.

If I were a Catholic, knowing what I know, I would renounce my faith. Immediately. Even if I personally had not raped a child or protected a priest who had.  Anybody who chooses to belong to that organization and consent to the authority of these vile men can't, in my book, be "ok".

In the film, a father agonizes about the abuse his daughter suffered for years at the hands of a priest. When she was younger, her father said he'd kill anybody who hurt her. So she endured the abuse for years without telling her father because she was afraid he would kill the priest, who is now living freely in Ireland (at least he was at the end of the film). Their lives have been absolutely destroyed.

Just thinking about it makes me want to pull rebar out of my building and whack a Catholic.

Henry would be so proud of you. He was so pissed off at the church he started his own, because he wanted to Fark that younger lady. Which he killed.

Good times.
