Dumb yes.  But how the hell did it get anywhere near the jury box?  In session or not?

Look on the bright side.  At least 2 of them were not functionally illiterate.

Either one of the morans crumbled it up and dropped it, or their attorney really doesn't like them and nonchalantly tossed it in.

Detailed headline is detailed.  I felt no need to click the link.

If the latter it was a brilliant move for a doomed case.

Black, white, doesn't really matter.  As stupid as these guys are I'm just glad their DNA will be coming out of the gene pool.  The city's average IQ should go up dramatically.

Or the Prosecutor tossed it in to test the Thieves' Paradox.

Preliminary or some other type of hearing in front of the judge only.  No jury present.

When they're doing preliminary hearings around here, they'll bring several defendants in together.  Since there's no jury, they'll usually seat them together in the jury box rather than out out in the audience with the rest of the public.

Don't be too sure of that. They could already have fathered many children. Saw a 48 hours the other day where a twenty-year-old young man was shot to death riding his bike down the street and he was described as a father of four.

Home invasion and armed robbery?  I guess technically they could get out while the plumbing still works...

Men's plumbing generally never stops working.

I think subby meant in the witness box.

That doesn't prove/disprove anything.
Innocent people also would want to get their story straight.

In subby's defense, the article does say one of the deputies found a note in the jury box. Did the reporter probably intend to say "witness box" instead of "jury box"? Probably.

If it really was a note from a lawyer, I would think it would fall under lawyer/client confidentiality. Do I think  it was really from his lawyer? Nope.

I think pictures such as these need to have a warning something along the lines of "please make sure you are neither drinking nor eating while viewing the picture"

/needs new keyboard for the 100th time.

No, he probably meant jury box.  See my above post.  It wasn't at the actual trial so there was no jury.  They simply use the seats that would have normally held the jury as a place to seat the defendants in this type of proceeding.

It isn't uncommon to see what is normally the jury box full of defendants on a day set aside for hearings and stuff.  When a defendant's case comes up, the bailiff will move him from the jury box to the defense table.  Once his issues have been addressed (motions, plea deals, bail reductions, whatever),  he will move back to the 'jury box' - which is actually just the on deck circle on this day - and the next guy on the docket will move to the defense table.  Once everybody's cases have been addressed, they'll move that group back to the jail and move another group into the 'jury box'.

Often times, they'll even arrange the docket so that they're sequentially calling defendants who are represented by the same defense counsel so the lawyers don't have to keep swapping out each time a defendant changes.

It's also possible that the guy dropped the note while passing by the jury box. Maybe the door to the holding area is near the jury box.

Unlikely.
